Celebrate the gift of giving — Themed Challenge

Happy “hump day!”

This will be the only December Hodgepodge Challenge — can you take/keep the lead??

Why the only one? Because November was crazy and I expect December to be just as chaotic for most folks. But that doesn’t mean holding the lead will be easy. Let’s so what I’ve got in store for you.

So, grab a cup of something hot and let’s start plotting!

You may partake in any of the challenges at any time. Points will be awarded only during the current month’s challenge.

Who doesn’t love a good provocation to get the creative juices flowing?!

Christmas Bonus:

You can partake in this challenge as often as you want throughout December — racking up points each time!!

Writing prompt choices

(1 point each or 2 points for using both):

1. Someone is leaving gifts. Good intentions or naughty? A trail of breadcrumbs?
2. Something is celebrated that shouldn’t be!

Elements to include

(1 point each):

• Snow (in whatever form, fake or real)
• A weapon of an unlikely material
• Decorations (doesn’t have to be Christmas!)
• Someone/something is the life of the party
• A mythical creature of your choosing

Bonus: 1 point for continuing from any previous story.

Ground Rules

1. Use one or both prompt choices.
2. Include as many elements as possible.
3. Try to keep submissions between 100 and 1,000 words.
4. Tag me so I can read your story and add it to the next publication!
5. Challenge your fellow (competitive) writers!
6. Publish where you choose but consider The Fictioneer’s Treasure Trove.
