Summary

The website presents the "Hodgepodge Challenge — No 2," an autumn-themed writing competition with specific prompts and elements to incorporate, designed to inspire creativity among writers.

Abstract

The "Hodgepodge Challenge — No 2" is an autumn-themed writing contest that invites participants to engage in creative storytelling. With the autumn season beginning on 9/23, the challenge offers two writing prompts, each worth one point, or two points for using both. These prompts involve a warrior tree in a forest and a kidnapping with an unusual purpose. Additionally, writers are encouraged to include five specific elements, such as worn-out boots and a talking statue, in their stories for extra points. The challenge allows for flexibility, with submissions ranging from 100 to 1,000 words, and encourages tagging the author to be included in a publication. The competition also features a bonus point for writing either a 100-word drabble or a 1,000-word story. Participants are encouraged to publish their stories in "The Fictioneer’s Treasure Trove" and can track their points on the leaderboard, which currently shows "Bradan Writes Stories" and "Sweet Chaos" tied at 8 points.

It’s “hump day!” We’ve almost made it to the weekend. Here is another Hodgepodge Challenge to spice up your mid-week!

Who doesn’t love a good provocation to get the creative juices flowing?! The autumn season begins 9/23, so we have another autumn-themed challenge! (Sort of)

Writing prompt choices

(1 point each or 2 points for using both):

  • One tree in the forest is a living warrior. Does it fight for justice or leave a wake of destruction?
  • Someone is kidnapped for a purpose other than a ransom. Describe their ordeal and purpose.

Elements to include

(1 point each):

  1. Worn out boots that follow you
  2. A talking statue that proclaims your protagonists inability or demise. (True or not!)
  3. Campfire or bonfire
  4. An author-fabricated creature (you create it!)
  5. A child’s stuffed toy

Bonus: 1 point for either a 100-word drabble or a 1,000-word story!

Ground Rules

  1. Use one or both prompt choices.
  2. Include as many elements as possible.
  3. Try to keep submissions between 100 and 1,000 words.
  4. Tag me so I can read your story and add it to the next publication!
  5. Challenge your fellow (competitive) writers!
  6. Publish where you choose but consider The Fictioneer’s Treasure Trove.

I extend this challenge to CK Green , Jann Christoph von der Pütten , and Christine Graves . I hope each of you join the fun!!
