His Wife Found Another Man

Looking at this man, tears falling from his blue-greenish eyes. His Australian with a harsh and crying voice as he toss-up the cognac that was in his cognac glass poured by my husband.
In front of him were a glass of red wine and a glass of cognac.

So sad, it’s a sad situation. ( I told myself). My heart felt the pain of a crying man sat opposite the dining table.
I have witnessed a very sad man while having dinner with us. Tony rented an apartment nearby the community. His hometown is Australia.
2 years ago, he was assigned to work in Asia. Base in Singapore, but travels to Malaysia, China, and other Asian countries including the Philippines.
Tony been in my home for few times, happy man and loves my cooking and of course drinks a lot of wine, snaps and cognac.
Each time he came to our place for dinner, he will not leave until he finishes what’s in the bottle. So I said to my husband that evening “here he comes again, will not go home until your cognac is finished”. For money's sake, your cognac is expensive and he drinks it just one night. Darn it! ( I said it with a smile though).
But last night was a different Tony came into the house. Looks sad and couldn’t care less about his looks. I ask him... How are you, Tony? His soar voice said... Couldn’t be better. I feel comfortable with Tony, I can ask him anything in front of my husband. He is like a very good friend to the family even we have only met him for the third time.

He stood up from his chair and came towards me... He showed me a photograph — in the photograph, there was a group of people. So I ask.. “where is your wife here and where are you here in this image?” He pointed at a photo he was holding. This is my wife and this is our friend.
And why are you showing this photograph to us then?
He said…. this is the sad thing. The man behind my wife.. not only replace my job in Asia but also replaces me from my wife.
I could not understand the statement. Really? I ask…
What do you mean?
Tony was silent.
He puffs a cigarette again and again.
He grabs his wine glass and breath… breathes in a very deep like trying to catch more air around him.
He cried like a baby. Sobering into his crossed hands on top of the table… soaked his head between his hands and cried once more.
He has worked his life to provide for the family he said... Not knowing this will become his failures... To lose his wife...
I was stoned. Didn’t know how to react or what words shall we say to make him feels better in that situation.
I said to Tony in a very calming voice…
In any person in this world… no one wants to be alone.
If you love your wife, take her back from your opponent, win her heart and forget about the money you can make while overseas.
Go home Tony! Just go home.
Be with your wife your wife needs you and you need her.

Ending The Story
I cannot imagine how painful could that been for a man like Tony.
The pain and sorrows. Maybe some man cannot live without a woman.
I knew there are so many men and women out there who lost their love.
I also knew there many who survived and live alone. But is this the life you really want? I won’t.
What advice would you have for someone like Tony in that situation?
I would let him know if you leave a comment.
