Hiraeth
a free-verse fictional poem on a beautiful welsh word

he felt a tinge, weird homesickness, engulfing him! homesickness for people, he’d never met, homesickness for places, he’d never visited, a strange yearning, a strong hiraeth!
never did he have a home, nor a proper family, he knew ’tis his mind, an illusion of nostalgia. what he loved, albeit a mirage, was the feeling, the false feeling of a wooden roof, somewhere, the false feeling of waves of laughter, underneath, awaiting his arrival, and the false longing of his soul, to reach that hypothetical space!
Hiraeth is a welsh word which expresses the homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home that probably never was, a strange yearning, a bout of nostalgia, grief for all the lost places in your life!
