  4. It’s Friday night football — were you there?
  5. What kind of job did you have?
  6. Were you a party animal?
  7. Were you considered a jock?
  8. Were you in a band?
  9. Were you a nerd?
  10. Did you get suspended?
  11. Can you sing the fight song?
  12. What was your high school mascot?
  13. If you could go back and do it all again, would you?
  14. Are you still in contact with people from high school?
  15. Do you know where your high school crush is?
  16. What was your favorite subject?
  17. Do you still have your high school ring?

1.) What was the year you graduated?

1985

2.) Did you carpool?

No, I took a bus and a trolley to get to my school. Got up and left for the first bus at 7:05 a.m.

3.) What kind of car did you drive?

Again, I didn’t have that privilege. Took a bus and a trolley to get to my all-girls’ prep academy school. I was one of the few who didn’t get a shiny red Camaro on my 16th birthday.

4.) It’s Friday night football — were you there?

No, my high school was an all-girls’ school. We didn’t have football.

5.) What kind of job did you have?

I just did babysitting on my block to make some dollar for the movies.

6.) Were you a party animal?

Hardly, more of an introvert writer/poet/rocker.

7.) Were you considered a jock?

Haha, no!! Some funny stories. My school was big on field hockey so my gym teacher, Mrs. Whelan, made us run around the field hockey lot twice every day before gym class started. I always got out of running around twice so I would huff and puff like I was out of breath after my first time around. Mrs. Whelan would see me all out of breath and say, “Dooner, is that your second time around?” I would say, “Um, yeah, Mrs. Whelan, it is!”

We also had to do archery in gym class which I couldn’t do a lick. So when it was my turn, I would come up and pull the bow with all my might and it would sputter a couple inches at which point, Mrs. Whelan would say, “Oh sit down, DOONER, you’ll break a nail!”

8.) Were you in the band?

No, but I was in the Pep Squad. We basically raised some noise at public events.

9.) Were you a nerd?

It was the 80s! Weren’t we all?

10.) Did you get suspended?

Hell, no! I was a good girl. Still am! The most I got was a demerit for wearing dark nail polish.

11.) Can you sing the fight song?

Our school song was “I Love My School a Million, It Means the World to Me!

Funny how, I remember the words after all these years!

12.) What was your high school mascot?

Our high school mascot was a panda bear.

13.) If you could go back and do it all again, would you?

I would not like to go back to my high school per se. It was not a good experience for me. However, I would like to be that age again 14–18 and maybe go to a co-ed high school. It would have been more fun.

14.) Are you still in contact with people from high school?

No, because my close high school friends can’t be tracked down and most of the other people at my high school were snobby. I am, however, Facebook friends with guys and girls from my grade school.

15.) Do you know where your high school crush is?

Yes, he is happily married with grown children and grandchildren living in the middle of my state.

16.) What was your favorite subject?

English, hands down. Always is, always was.

17.) Do you still have your high school ring?

Yes, I saw it in my jewelry box a couple months ago and tried it on. It still fits, ironically, but my engagement ring from years later does not. Go figure.
