1. 📖 Education Assistance

SOURCE Company-sponsored education, who wouldn’t want that? Many people don’t realize that tuition assistance is basically hard-earned income that they work for but in the form of leverage or knowledge. This benefit is quite common these days and the amount may be greater at those companies that care about developing and keeping talents. Some companies reimburse up to 10k for the technology-related degree/program/training.

Why? to be more marketable, relevant in the industry, and move up the corporate ladder (optional), and because it’s a privilege to even have this opportunity.

If we’re young, it’s vital that we must do everything in our power to preserve what we have.

Takeaway: Investment in yourself is the best investment.

2. 🤲 Global Size Problems = Opportunities to Market Yourself Internally

No matter what company size we work at, we can always have an impact and opportunities to develop technical/creative skills. To promote teamwork and reduce cost, companies often look for internal talents to solve the problems by marketing the project opportunities . Though this takes 5–15% of our time, they are fantastic opportunities to prove to the business that we are well-rounded individuals and team players.

This case depends on the manager, but competent managers often encourage their employees to take on any potential opportunities. Not only efficient employees will help the organization as a whole move forward, but they will also properly align their goals with the company’s goals.

Takeaway: Global size problems are rare opportunities to take on and the lessons we walk away from are extremely valuable to our development as a professional.

3. 🌎 Hassle-Free Networking Around the Globe

But Tien, networking has always been hassle-free on LinkedIn and other professional platforms. What’s the difference here?

Yeah, but have we considered the fact that we kinda have to beg the person to accept our network requests on social media? they may or may not accept and respond to us? while we can simply hit up your colleagues with a message and they’re happy to share everything with us. Time is precious and wait-time is no different. Also, we’re basically on the same team (bigger picture) under different business units.

Ever since I updated my job title on LinkedIn, LinkedIn has been showing me a ton of professionals from my company and I was able to connect to many of them with ease. They’ve shared lots of insights about the direction the company is taking, company culture, and the type of work they contribute to the org, and what other benefits to take advantage of.

Takeaway: reach out to your new friends and learn what other business units are doing, this will help you see the bigger picture.

Final thoughts: Opportunities are everywhere if we know what we look for. You earned the position, so it’s crucial to recognize what benefits are being offered early on and take advantage of what makes sense in your situation. Good luck :)
