Marvelous Mondays
Hey! Hey! How About These Marvelous Wonders to be Grateful For?
Enjoy the beauty before you

The image above is one of my own pictures of the Grand Canyon when we made a cross-country drive. I don’t think any photo can do the canyon any justice. You need to see with your own eyes. Marvelous wonder? Oh yeah.
Here are some facts you might not know about this marvelous wonder:
- discovered in 1200 BC by the Anasazi people
- located in Arizona
- formed by the Colorado River when it cut through the plateau
- roughly 5 million tourists visit every year
- there are many side canyons that have been created by erosion over the years
- it is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world

June 17 marks the anniversary of the arrival of the Statue of Liberty from France to the United States in 1885. Lady Liberty of the New York Harbor has been standing tall and proud for many, many years. And, trust me, I was recently in New York, and she looks mighty fine!
I did mention that her arms must be tired, having to hold that torch up for all these years.
On October 28, 1886, when the statue was assembled and ready for dedication, President Cleveland was heard saying,
“We will not forget that Liberty has here made her home; nor shall her chosen altar be neglected.”
Lady Liberty stands 305 feet tall and weighs in at a mere 450,000 pounds (over 2.041e+ kg). So, you ladies worrying about your COVID weight, remember to stand tall like Lady Liberty and just eat less from here on out.
The sculptor, Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi modeled her after his mother and named the statue, “Liberty Enlightening the World.”

And, way around the world in Muli, Maldives you will find happy children skateboarding.
Skate parks have been opening around the world, thanks to Wonders Around the World. The goal of introducing skateboarding to youth around the world is to provide a positive outlet.
Here’s another one in Bangladesh, India that was built with the help of Bangladesh Street Kids Aid.

I think kids who can be happy make the world a marvelous wonder.

I don’t know if this is fun or funny, but Monte Casino, Poland is home to The Crooked House, which is a series of buildings that, as you can see, are crooked to the eye. The architects gleaned inspiration from an illustrator of children’s books, Jan Marcin Szancer. To many tourists, this is a marvelous wonder. How many photos do you think have been taken of this building?
What’s inside? Apparently, it’s a mall with shops and restaurants. Another one for the travel bucket list!

I always find sunsets to be marvelous wonders of our everyday. This one was captured in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

This one is from Montgomery, TX when we camped at Lake Conroe, just outside Houston, TX.
I’ll leave you with a campfire video that you can watch over and over and over again because there’s something mesmerizing about it. Another marvelous wonder: sitting by the campfire, watching the glow dance before your eyes. One word—magical.
The link to the video is also attached to the video credit if you’re having problems viewing here.
Oh! and, watch it full screen. Enjoy!
May your soul be refreshed.
