Here’s How I’m Beating The Medium Algorithm (It’s Not What You Think)

And why you might want to do this too.

This month I’m getting way less traffic than in December and January. And I finally found out why.

The Medium ‘For You’ page seems to favor fresh content.

I mean look at it.

I see mainly articles from 1–3 hours ago. This means that your older articles are getting buried deep.

Very deep.

Just take a look at the following screenshots of the ‘For You’ page (I took all the screenshots within one minute):

You see?

So, I’m going to do something crazy.

As of today I’m going to write two articles a day.

My brain will probably get fried, but I think this will make my articles surface more often.

I’m going to do this little experiment for about 10 days to see if it works.

I also think that writing twice a day can improve your work.

More writing means faster, smoother writing. Brainstorming and argumenting will probably become easier too if you do it more often.

I’ll have to be more creative and think of more topics to write about.

I’m going to experiment with styles and maybe I’ll discover hidden depths in my writing voice.

I’m so motivated to do this.

I’m not saying you should do this too. But if you’re feeling stuck, unseen, unheard, you might want to give it a shot.

I think even one extra article a week might make a difference.

Because the truth is: the internet is a loud place. And Medium is no different.

Sometimes you need to shout a bit to be heard.

Let me know in the comments if you’re going to join me.
