Why am I visiting Myeong-dong again in 2023?
Because Myeong-dong’s retailers who shut down their establishments during the pandemic are reopening.
Finally!
The ghostly streets ofMyeong-dong is finally seeing an increase in international visitors as Korea lifts its COVID-19 quarantine regulations.

At the end of February, Daiso will reopen its Myeong-dong outlet at twice its original shop size after being forced to close when Korea shut its borders to tourists during COVID-19.
And that’s not all.
Only a year after closing its store in Myeong-dong, Adidas also made a comeback with its largest two-story flagship shop there last month.
Additionally, ABC-Mart added a fourth location in Myeong-dong in December.
From January to November 2022, there were close to 500,000 foreign visitors to Seoul’s tourist information centers, according to the Seoul Tourism Foundation.
This figure is 8x higher than what was observed during the same time in 2021.
