Here's What Happened During My 3 Days Break From Medium.

I felt I'd missed out every passing hour.

I needed the break — well, so I thought.

It was Thanksgiving Day, and I wanted to concentrate on making dinner.

Customarily, I would be spending the big day with friends and family or even having a few friends over. But with the unsettling daily COVID updates, I'm yet to feel comfortable socializing.

It was me, my son, and his fiance. She had to work all day as a medical doctor and didn't get home till 7:00 in the evening.

Dinner was late but delicious. We had a good evening chatting and catching up. They had lots of leftovers for a few days and would be speared weekend cooking or more like ordering out for the weekend.

Spoiler alert, There was no turkey. Neither of us likes the big bird.

It was refreshing spending time with the kids as I call them — It's different seeing them than talking on the phone. But, with everyone so busy these days, we have to settle with practical communication.

Oh, I got some good news to share, but only I must wait for the right time.

So now you're guessing —

No, I'm not becoming a grandma, at least not yet. But I can't wait for that moment when I'll hear such good news.

The weekend was fast approaching; one thing led to another. I got busy planning travel and tieing up loose ends.

I occasionally checked in on Medium on the app and read a few stories, but I was mindful that my inbox was stocking up at the speed of lightning and I couldn't keep pace so I took a complete break.

It's strange, I suddenly felt I was missing out. The comments were piling up, and I had a hell of a lot of reading to do too.

So today, Sunday, I've dedicated a chunk of my time to reading and engaging on Medium. But, of course, tomorrow is a whole new day.

That's what happens with being dedicated — You miss not being with your community.
