Here’s The Best Way to Find Direction When You’re Lost in Life
Hint: Focus on movement instead
I’m one month away from graduating college.
I’m also one month away from getting a degree in sociology and economics while being a digital writer.
I haven’t done any internships. I haven’t made any connections with potential employers. I haven’t even wrapped my head around being a college graduate.
I’m scared.
My parents say my degrees are useless. They’re certain I wasted a free college ride on goofing around and getting drunk with my friends.
I haven’t built my writing business up to the point where I could switch to a full-time writer now.
Have you ever been in a situation like this?
Have you ever been in a place in your life where you’re waiting on a shelf, hoping for your next opportunity and it doesn’t come (yet)?
Here’s what I’ve learned about this dilemma.
It doesn’t matter which direction you go. It’s all about taking risks and some of them will be bigger than others.
Let me explain.
I came back to watch a video of this college vlogger I loved as a high school senior.
He posted videos on his life being at an Ivy League as a freshman. He walked everyone through his whole journey of being a college freshman to a senior. He created tons of resources for other high schoolers to get into great colleges too.’
But most of all, he inspired me to take more risks.
He once said that it’s baffling to him the number of scholarships that people don’t get because they don’t apply for them. He also mentioned how he got enough scholarships to study abroad for free. He put the time in to look for them and apply.
Here’s where I’m going with this.
He inspired me to work my ass off and study abroad in college. I took his advice and got a free study abroad trip to London and Paris for spring break. That was my first time traveling outside of America.
Now, this YouTuber is in the same dilemma as me.
He quit his job in New York City to become a full-time YouTuber.
He said that it was a HUGE RISK, but he didn’t want to look back on his life in 10 years and be disappointed that he didn’t take advantage of the opportunity.
That’s my message to you today.
If you want a massive change, you need to take a massive risk.
This is why I’ve decided to continue on my digital writing path after I graduate.
I don’t want to lose the momentum I’ve gained. Plus, I love to write. I’ve dedicated almost two years to this process and I’ll be damned if I give up now.
It’s risky.
I’m not in the best financial position to take these risks, but I’m so close.
The unknown is scary, but wasting your potential is even scarier.
Take more risks if you don’t know the direction you’re heading yet. The direction can change at any time.
But you’ll never move anywhere without risks.
So what are you waiting for?
