Here’s How To Study Better with Mem and Chat

Okay let me get this straight from the beginning. The idea is a bit far fetched and it does not work all the time as expected, but Mem Chat, a subscription feature of Mem.ai can actually help to study. Mem Chat ist like a personal assistent in you pocket and in this case it’s like a study buddy. Here’s my approach that might work for you too.

Mem Chat

Let me briefly explain what Mem Chat is. It’s essentially ChatGPT tailored for your personal knowledge base. You can ask about anything stored in your notes database, and it will sift through the information in seconds, usually pinpointing exactly what you need. The more data you feed into Mem (i.e., the more notes you save) and the more detailed they are, the better it performs, enabling a more natural interaction, just like dealing with a real assistant.

You could ask questions like (provided you’ve saved this information in Mem): “What was the name of the person I met at the last company gathering?”, “Please review my August 15th meeting notes and draft an agenda for the upcoming October meeting,” or simply, “When did I watch the last Star Wars movie and what were my impressions?”.

Sounds to pretty awesome? And it is awesome! But wait…

Your Personal Study Buddy

Here’s another way to look at Mem Chat. It can be your personal study buddy, all you need to do is tell it what you want. Although there are some rough edges and it doesn’t really remember the whole conversation, it’s been effective and a big help to me.

You just ask it to be your study buddy, point out a note you want to study, and ask for some study questions. Most times, despite its quirks, Mem will go through the exact note you mentioned and come up with some questions related to your topic, making studying a bit more interesting than just going through your notes again.

Example of asking Mem Chat to come up with three random study questions.

Here’s a simple example. I’ve gathered a collection of notes on AI in healthcare, which I’ve titled “AI in Healthcare.” I directed Mem Chat to utilize these notes to generate a few study questions. You could also prompt it to provide the answers beneath each question, especially since a one-on-one tutoring session like with a real person is not possible.

Can I ask you a favor? If you find this article insightful and enjoy reading it, consider following me for more content about Mem.ai, productivity, and the general landscape of AI.

It is important to note that Chat doesn’t retain conversation history, particularly in detailed exchanges. Moreover, it’s crucial to be aware of potential AI hallucinations. Even within a tightly defined context like this, there’s a possibility of hallucinations occurring. I can’t stress this enough always (everywhere) check AI responses for inaccuracies.

Conclusion

It may not be flawless, given that we’re in the early stages of the AI revolution, but it operates effectively in most scenarios. I’ve employed it for numerous work- / study-related tasks, and I can’t help but wish I had access to this tool during my school years.

Hej there! Can I ask you a favour (it will really help me out to grow this blog)?
