Here’s How I Earned More Than $1,200 Per Month Writing

With alternative writing sites for you to choose from

I earned more than $1,200 per month writing on content mills. Content mills get a bad reputation for being low-paid. While that may be true, when you get on a content mill and start writing consistently, you can get paid for it.

I’m not a fast typer and I only worked part-time hours. But for that, I still earned part-time money. So, should you try out content mills? My answer is yes (if you can’t find anything better).

Here’s my recent story about three content mills I wrote on:

3 Content Mills I’ve Worked On. And which one’s the best | by Warren-Blogs | Apr, 2024 | Medium

You’ll find out there the pay rates for writing on these sites.

While they might not all be open for writers right now, and they may not have a job board that’s full for you to take advantage of, it’s worth exploring some of the other options out there such as:

  • TextBroker
  • Steady Content
  • Skyword
  • Compose.ly
  • Writer Access
  • Verblio
  • WriterBay

Here are a few words on some of them.

Verblio is for US-based writers only (so being from the UK, I wasn’t eligible to write for them). But if you’re from the US, it’s worth applying to.

To write for WriterBay, you need a degree. I completed the whole application, submitted my diploma of higher education, and subsequently got rejected. Make sure you have a full degree if you want to apply for this one.

I got passed up by SteadyContent after passing the first test. The jobs look diverse and fun (they do inform that they’re looking for a ‘fast, energetic writer to work on fun content’) and I believe that to be true based on their example articles. I probably messed up somewhere when it had to do with formatting and following their guidelines so do pay attention when you’re writing your sample and don’t make the same mistakes I made. They’re actively seeking writers and you can apply straight from this page at ProBlogger.

Compose.ly’s very hard to get into. There’s a writing task initially that you’ve to pass with 40 questions that’s pretty tough. I failed, but you might not. It’s worth trying your hand at it because as far as I’m aware Compose.ly’s one of the highest-paying content mills around for writers.
