Here’s Hoping

A response to the poetry prompt, “Hope”

Here’s hoping for a quiet place to shelter from life’s storms, A haven, safe, in which I can take rest and just relax. I’m hoping for the time to sit in a peaceful corner, warm, with not a care, and no more fear of possible attacks.

Here’s hoping for a sudden win to make me feel secure in my ability to meet the costs of daily life. It doesn’t have to be a lot, just enough to be assured I never will again be battered with financial strife.

Here’s hoping for a loving hand to smooth my weary brow, To ease away all stresses and caress my care-worn face. I wish that you and I could bask in that sweet moment now, and hope ere long I’ll be with you, there warm in your embrace.

Thank you to the lovely Jeff Ehren for the invitation to join in on this poetry prompt on the theme of “Hope.”
