Midjourney v6 is an insane designer/photographer 🤯
MidJourney’s recent upgrade enhances the experience significantly by extending the length of prompts, offering more detailed control over colors and shading, as well as text elements.
It also introduces a conversational feature for fine-tuning outputs, similar to how ChatGPT assists in refining DALL-E images.
This update has been undergoing development and testing for a considerable period, with a group of selected subscribers actively participating to enhance the overall output quality.
A notable improvement in the update is its enhanced ability to interpret prompts. It now discerns nuances in punctuation and grammar, effectively differentiating contexts like ‘eating, shooting, and leaving’.
Activating MidJourney V6:
The update is not automatically applied to all users. For activation, input ‘/settings’ in the Midjourney Discord or send a direct message to the Midjourney bot. Then, choose V6 from the dropdown menu. Alternatively, you can activate it manually by typing ‘ — v 6’ after your prompts.

This version boasts improvements like more accurate prompt following, enhanced image prompting, and the ability to draw minor text.
For instance, using commands like ‘/imagine a photo of the text “Hello World!” — ar 16:9 — v 6’ simplifies image generation.

New Prompting Approach in MidJourney v6
Holz emphasizes a shift in prompting techniques with V6. Traditional methods involving specific technical terms are now less effective. Users are encouraged to adopt a clearer, more straightforward prompting style for better results with the new update.
Yet Holz was clear in his Discord post stating that these types of prompting tricks would no longer result in the type of results users desired. “You will need to re-learn how to prompt,” he wrote.
- “Prompting with V6 is significantly different than V5. You will need to ‘relearn’ how to prompt.
- V6 is MUCH more sensitive to your prompt. Avoid ‘junk’ like “award winning, photorealistic, 4k, 8k”
- Be explicit about what you want. It may be less vibey but if you are explicit it’s now MUCH better at understanding you.
- If you want something more photographic / less opinionated / more literal you should probably default to using
--style raw - Lower values of
--stylize(default 100) may have better prompt understanding while higher values (up to 1000) may have better aesthetics - Please chat with each other in prompt-chat to figure out how to use v6.“

The output quality is so high and anyone can generate any kind of image they wish to.
