TRAVEL

Here Is One Of The Coolest Coffee Shops I’ve Been In!

Where is this place? Ipoh, of course!

Here is the entrance to the coffee shop! It’s conveniently located at Ipoh’s Riverfront. Sorry about that big pile of sand in front! They were doing some construction. (photo provided by Linda Ng)

Looking for a place to enjoy a nice cup of coffee? Then you should not hesitate to visit the Chiang Jiang White Coffee Shop at People’s Park in Ipoh! This wonderfully unique shop opened last year and it has quickly become a hot spot for tourists.

Here’s a blurb on the opening of the shop.

It’s the first time I’ve been there and I had so much fun! Aside from enjoying some of the best steamed bread I’ve had, I also took a ton of photos at the restaurant. You’ll see 👀 what I mean.

As you walk through, you’ll see a nice parkette area. I believe this is where they have a night market! Too bad I didn’t have time to check it out. Walk further along and we’re at the entrance of the shop! (photos provided by Linda Ng)

I was already intrigued by the entrance. It seems to have so much culture and history. I actually had no idea it was a coffee shop. 🤣 I wondered where we were going.

That’s alright because I’m always ready to eat, especially in Ipoh. Now are you ready? The inside of this shop is not what you would expect!

Here’s the waiting area! You can already see some decorations all around. The seats are wooden, giving it a unique vibe. (photo provided by Linda Ng)

After we got seated, I checked out the restaurant and started taking a ton of photos. The restaurant felt like a mini-museum to me. There were a lot of things to see!

You can choose to sit in an air-conditioned room if you like! It was actually too cold for us, so we sat where there was a nice breeze instead.

I found an old sewing machine? To be honest, I wasn’t quite sure what some things were, but they were cool anyways. (photo provided by Linda Ng)
I know what this is! It’s a rickshaw! And that is the entrance to the air-conditioned room. It’s so cold in there! (photo provided by Linda Ng)
I believe these were two barbershop seats from the olden days! I didn’t sit in it though, as I wasn’t sure if we were allowed! (photo provided by Linda Ng)
I also know what this is! It’s for a bride! Again, I didn’t go inside. These displays looked a bit fragile after all. (photo provided by Linda Ng)

I took many more photos here because everything was so interesting! But now let’s share some photos of FOOD! 🤤 We came here to eat after all. I kind of felt like we should have paid some admission fee because it’s like a museum here. Haha!

I ordered the wonton mee because it’s one of my favourite dishes in Ipoh. I was NOT disappointed! It was delicious.

Yes, this is as good as it looked! And I also had 100 plus of course! (photo provided by Linda Ng)
Here is the steamed bread I was talking about! It’s in the bamboo container. I’ve never had such soft, hot bread before! (photo provided by Linda Ng)

It’s too bad I wasn’t able to visit the night market. I’m sure there’s probably a lot of interesting stalls to check out. I also feel like maybe I should have tried out the coffee. If you’ve read my previous viral post of 10 random questions, you’ll know that I’m no coffee drinker.

I should have made an exception for Ipoh’s famous coffee! Maybe next time.

If you’re looking to visit Ipoh sometime, I highly recommend visiting this quaint shop. It’s a great way to enjoy a leisurely afternoon with a cup of Ipoh’s famous coffee. You can take tons of photos and probably ask the people there if you can sit in the barbershop chairs for a nice picture.

Don’t forget to check out the night market if you have time!
