Summary

The website content discusses the application of manifesting and the law of attraction to achieve collective goals within a group, emphasizing the importance of alignment and shared vision for success.

Abstract

The article delves into the concept of manifesting as a powerful technique for groups to achieve their shared objectives, drawing from the principles outlined in Roxie Nafousi's "Manifesting" and Rhonda Byrne's "The Secret." It suggests that by aligning the group's mind, body, and soul with their goals, teams can move beyond wishful thinking to realize tangible outcomes. The process involves creating a clear and shared vision, designing a bridge to achieve this vision, and establishing a context and structure for rehearsing and practicing as a team. The author, Dr. Alex Steinberg, an organizational psychologist and corporate leader, advocates for the importance of visualization, planning, and rehearsal in achieving "Team Flow," a state where group objectives become realizable through harmonious joint action.

Opinions

  • The author believes that manifesting and the law of attraction are not just individual practices but can be effectively applied to group settings to enhance collective success.
  • Visualizing goals as a group is crucial for making dreams concrete and ensuring everyone is aligned with the shared vision.
  • It is important to not only brainstorm and discuss goals but to also create a detailed plan and timeline for achieving them, including specific steps and intermediate goals.
  • The author emphasizes the need for a structured rehearsal process, akin to an orchestra practicing together, to ensure smooth performance and effective communication.
  • Psychological safety and openness to change are seen as key components for a team to learn and optimize their approach while holding each other accountable to the shared vision.
  • Dr. Alex Steinberg suggests that by committing to the process, treating each other with trust and respect, and allowing for mistakes, teams can overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

How to get the most out of the Law of Attraction as a group

Wow! I have just read two books, that have inspired me enormously to develop further my own approach as to how groups can be successful in achieving Team Flow.

Manifesting — a powerful technique

The first book is Manifesting by self-development coach Roxie Nafousi. This is the essential guide to anyone and everyone wanting to feel more empowered in their lives.

In seven simple steps, you can create the life you have always dreamed of. Whether you want to land the perfect job, buy the home you have always wanted, or simply find more inner-peace and confidence, Manifesting will teach you exactly how to get the life you want.

These are the steps: 1. Be clear in your vision, 2. Remove fear and doubt, 3. Align your behavior 4. Overcome tests from the universe, 5. Embrace gratitude without caveats 6. Turn envy into inspiration, 7. Trust in the universe

So, in essence, this is about aligning our heart, soul, minds and behavior with our goals so that the big objectives can actually turn into reality (as opposed to just be wishful thinking).

Mel Robbins does an excellent video on Manifesting for beginners. She describes perfectly how we can bridge the law of attraction into our everyday lives — and how we can distinguish it from wishful thinking.

In essence, Manifesting is a philosophy and a self-development practice based on the law of attraction. And this leads me to the second book: The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.

The Secret: the law of attraction

The Secret is a truly inspiring book. It is about how we can use the power of the law of attraction to achieve success.

It is to live in accordance with the natural laws of the universe, but the most important thing is to integrate these principles into our daily lives.

The book is based on Rhonda Byrne’s own story. She was able to turn around a life of extreme debt into a life of extreme prosperity and has become well-known for her success story.

The Secret walks you through a year of sharing words of wisdom and profound thoughts so that you can live in harmony with the laws that govern all human beings.

Team Flow means Manifesting on a group level

I am really amazed — both Manifesting and The Law of Attraction totally complement the principles I describe in the 6 step process to Team Flow.

Team Flow is essentially a powerful technique to create a group’s reality in such a way that the team’s objectives, dreams and goals become tangible and realizable — as a group.

And Manifesting made me realize that actually on a group level it equally important to get your minds, bodies and souls aligned — otherwise no harmonious joint action is possible.

So here are my key takeaways from these powerful techniques for a group setting.

Three takeaways from Manifesting - for groups

Both Manifesting and The Law of Attraction, applied to a group setting, are highly useful amplifiers of this very important principle that I describe in Team Flow: creating a bridge of high-level values and objectives to reality.

#1 Brainstorming and discussing goals as a team is not enough

Essential point, but often overlooked: You have to visualize your goals as a group. In this way you make your collective dream more concrete.

Give yourself permission to dream as a group. And create a concrete picture of that group dream.

Maybe you want to launch a new product. Maybe you wish to develop a new service or new platform. Maybe you want to start a new company.

One of the most important things you can do to achieve success is to create a clear picture of what you want to achieve as a team.

Visualizing your goals will help you to focus on the most important tasks and make sure that everyone is on the same page.

Visualizing is not a power point slide with some drafted sentences (what I have often seen).

It means an image, a visual, a video or model of what you imagine the future state to be. Just like architects create models of the buildings they create. Just like car manufacturers model prototypes.

This vision can of course be developed or change further as you go along, but the basic blueprint of your shared vision of what it is you wish to achieve should be designed at the outset.

#2 Design a bridge between where you are now as a team and the aims you wish to achieve

The key is to create a bridge between now and the future.

This means writing down and visualizing exactly those steps, that it takes, to make that vision happen.

Everyone in the team will contribute here. You need to plan out all the steps from making preparations in your work environment, to the actions and repetitions you need to do as a team to get to your vision.

So for instance, if you want to develop a new service to your clients, what you need to set up is not only the context for the new service, be it the digital platform, or the physical delivery points.

It is also the process of delivering that new service that you need to think about. So for example, the sales process, the operations process and the forms of delivery.

Based on the group visions, you’ll be able to:

  • identify the specific steps you need to take to achieve your goals.
  • create a plan to achieve those intermediate goals, and creating a timeline for when and how to achieve them.
  • create the environment and the habits and routines for success.

The last step is especially important: the environment for practicing. As a group you are like orchestra players: each one of you must know her role and actions to take at which point in time. This leads on to the next takeaway.

#3 Design a context, structure and process for rehearsing

Here are some examples of what needs to be crafted in order for you to have a context for rehearsing together — just like an orchestra :

  • a meeting rhythm,
  • a set of principles for acting in harmony,
  • an agreement which tools and communications channel are going to be used for which message,
  • a template and design agreement,
  • a process of how to deal with requests of any sort,
  • calendar alignment,
  • stakeholder engagement rules.

#4 Rehearse

You have to mentally and physically rehearse as a team for what you want your successful group action look like.

By rehearsing as a team, you put your mind, body and soul to it. For new things and change to come about, you need to experience them and you need to feel them.

You cannot ensure that everything runs smoothly if have never practiced together. So for example, if you have planned to do several key stakeholder meetings, in order to present your new service or product or new goal that you wish to develop, it is vital to practice such a meeting beforehand.

In this way you can ensure that everything runs smoothly and that everyone is on the same page. This can make the process of performing or presenting much easier and more effective.

Here are a few principles that you can do to help make your rehearsals as effective as possible:

  • Every new thing you do together should be rehearsed. For instance if you do a product presentation for the first time to a major client as a group — rehearse it.
  • Rehearsal should be organized and structured around major milestones. Every time you have a big event, meeting or delivery, rehearse together what it is what you want to say and who says what when.
  • Rehearse roles of the team and how they play together. For every joint appearance that you have as a team you need to assign roles and what everyone is responsible for and how you complement each other.
  • Set specific goals and objectives for each rehearsal, and ensure that all members of the team are aware of these goals.

#5 Do the work

Now, with this bridge to reality and environment for practice in place, start building. Put in the hard work. Your rehearsals and steps that you planned will tell you what to do.

Just also stay open for changes, as you go along. Becoming successful as a group will not happen overnight or through a shortcut.

In starting to build you start to realize what need little adjustments and optimization. This is called “learning by doing”. Be open for that, however, hold yourselves accountable for that shared vision.

Allow errors in the process and don't blame each other. Grant yourself the psychological safety of treating others trustfully, mindfully and with respect. The team should always stand up for each other no matter what.

With these steps, the openness to change, and psychological safety, believe you me — you will succeed!

Final words

Manifesting helps us to bridge a vision into reality. It helps us, like Mel Robbins put it nicely, “stop to stare at the big mountain” and start taking the little steps that it takes between now and standing on the top of the mountain.

The important thing of Manifesting is we put our mind, body and soul to it. This allows us to stay motivated and move forward. When we know we are committed, we have each others back and we are allowed to make mistakes on this learning journey, we can move mountains.
