Hello, You Can Call Me Zach

Hello! Top of the [insert your time-zone here] to ya!
Before I begin I would like to give a big thanks to Rasheed Hooda for tagging me in a prompt in which I tried my best to dethrone the devilish and dare I say, dastardly, Charles Roast. That was my introduction to this wonderful publication! I look forward to getting to know each of you more.
Legally speaking, my first name is Zachary. But I prefer to go by Zach. It just rolls off the proverbial tongue better. As you could probably tell, my name is spelled with an h and not a K. Therefore, I am not as punk rock as I try to be.
Nonetheless, here a few fun facts about me:
- I fell in love with writing (and poetry) in High School. At the time we were learning about Beatnik poets — Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. I loved the chaotic essence of their poems and began writing. My writing though was primarily self-pity, any insecurities I had, and about my lack of confidence. A real Pultizer Prize-winning combination.
- I have my Bachelor of Science in Communication. As an undergraduate, I hosted an unorthodox radio show and was in the television program. I minored in theatre. My goal in the theatre program was to write plays. Occasionally I acted (poorly) in some.
- My real passion, besides writing, is the ocean. Even though I love the Communication field I wish I did more with marine biology. You will probably see me writing a lot about the ocean. Once COVID-19 settles down I hope to get back to doing beach clean-up. In the words of famed Marine Biologist, George Constanza; “the sea was angry that day, my friends.”
- Seinfeld is the best television sitcom ever created.
- “Shut Up Zach!” was a popular catchphrase used by my friends in college due to my inability to stop doing bits and gags. Andy Kaufman is a big influence on my humor and comedic style.
Alright, I think that is enough. If you would like more below leave a comment or question below. Oh no, I sound like a YouTube Partner video outro.

Thanks again to Rasheed Hooda for introducing me to this wonderful publication and community!
