Hello. I’m Paul. It’s Good To Meet You

Welcome to my ‘About Me’ page

Hello, and welcome to my About Me page.

You have somehow found my writing among the enormous swath of Medium writers, so first and foremost, thank you for stopping your scroll and reading some of my work.

Every every read, clap, and watch means a lot to me. And I make it a point to answer to every comment.

Thank you very much. And hello.

I recently retired as a priest from the Church of England, the Anglican church in the United Kingdom. Last summer, after 37 years of ministry, I decided to call it a day, and relocate with my wife to North Yorkshire.

I’ve spent my whole career as a professional communicator and pastor — as well as a (very) amateur writer.

My Medium journey is a way for me to scratch that writer’s itch that I’ve never been able to scratch before. I write about a wide range of subjects.

To get you started, here are some highlights and links.

I am a person of faith, and while I no longer minister in a church, I enjoy exploring spirituality, prayer, and the importance of faith in the post-COVID world.

As someone who has seen the church from the inside, I have a unique perspective on its flaws, foibles, and inadequacies. I want to see a dynamic, progressive church that is relevant to the culture, so I won’t hold back in my writing about the modern church — and whatever the future holds for it.

My second wife and I live happily together in a small market town between the coast and the North York Moors. My first marriage turned out badly, and I’ve been reflecting about how and why it happened. In the next months, I plan to continue writing this memoir.

I’ve struggled with mental health concerns in recent years, which was one of the reasons I decided to retire early. Expect to see a lot of stories about self-care, loneliness, self-improvement, and other issues related to well-being.

I enjoy music and have a diverse musical taste. My area of expertise is progressive rock, both modern and vintage.

Science fiction, whether on television, in movies, in comic books, or in literature, intrigues me. I intend to write more frequently in this area. Keep an out for this — coming soon!

Other than reading, current events, local history, board games, sports, and so on, I have a diverse set of hobbies. I enjoy writing about a variety of topics, so please subscribe if you want to keep up with my numerous articles.

Currently, I publish in about 15 Medium publications, usually once or twice every day.

If you are feeling generous and want to indulge my vice, then please feel free to buy me a mocha.

Thank you once more for taking the time to read my writings. Best wishes on your adventure, and I look forward to connecting with you on Medium.
