Let Me Introduce Myself
A WEOC Profile/Creator’s Hub Prompt: What are you waiting for?

It took me a long time to write this profile when I realized, after being asked, “What are you waiting for?” that I’ve complicated what need only be a simple introduction. Turns out, being asked this is exactly “what I was waiting for.”
Without launching myself down an existential crisis road, riddled with anxiety potholes, created by the question “Who am I” I’m just going to share with you the bits about me that I know so far and worry about solving the mystery of my existence later.
My name is Kahlil, I write under the nom de plume KS Hernandez on Medium.
Writing is my calling; it’s my purpose to articulate difficult things —simply, with beautiful words, sometimes. I’ve finally surrendered to this fact.
After surviving earlier life, multiple traumas, and my self-delusion — that I didn’t need to acknowledge all parts of myself to live a whole life, here I am. Embattled yet still standing, not as good looking, but keenly aware of things when sometimes, I wish I was not.
I’m an Essayist. Fiction is my first love. I’m writing my first novel now and have several unfinished projects haunting my thoughts late at night. Stay tuned.
Poetry has become a powerful outlet while still getting comfortable listening to my voice, in my head, talk shit about the world around me, or when I’m at a loss for words.
Naturally, leaning toward humor I hope to bring smiles, encouragement, a spark of an idea, and perhaps a little titillation with my prose.
I promise I am not intentionally mysterious; I just think it’s best to learn about me through my writing, bit by bit.
Here’s a good one to get you started:
