We often say what’s up or how are you when what we really mean is, hello… I’m moving on.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s simply a greeting and nothing more.

But when someone does stop to listen.

Does stop and care.

That might just mean, everything. Hello… I’m here.

“The love of our neighbor in all its fullness simply means being able to say to him, ‘What are you going through?’” — Simone Weil

Behind the Blog

One thing I often find myself doing on long flights is scrolling through old photos on my phone.

Maybe I took 16 pictures of a mountain in 2018 and I really only need 1 of those photos.

Or maybe I took 37 selfies in Death Valley National Park and 2 will suffice.

So I go through and delete photos and sometimes stumble upon little nuggets of things I screenshotted to view again, like Simone’s quote,“The love of our neighbor in all its fullness simply means being able to say to him, ‘What are you going through?’”

I’m okay with the how are you’s and what’s up… but I definitely want to take time to offer questions with more meaning as well. Something a little more like… Hello, I’m here and I’m listening.
