Heaven Is Decked Out In Pink Today

My eldest daughter passed away in 2009. Today would have turned 25.

When we first got married, my wife and I weren’t keen on having children right away. We both wanted to advance our careers. And yet, as time passed, our hearts softened to the idea of having a child. And before we knew it, our eldest daughter Bayan was born on December 30, 1996.

I never knew what love truly was until she came into our lives. Yes, I loved my wife deeply then — and I still do now. And the love I had for Bayan, it could only have come from the Divine. As soon as I laid eyes on her, I was forever enthralled.

And the love she gave us back also could only come from the Divine. It was wholehearted and unconditional. She gave me a true taste of what Divine Love is and how it feels.

She was diagnosed with a crippling genetic disorder in 2003, which robbed her of her ability to walk and fight off infections. In 2009, she was diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma, and after six months of grueling chemotherapy, she went back to our Lord on June 7. Today, she would have been 25-years-old.

Pink was her favorite color, and so on this day (and the anniversary of her death), I make it a point to wear pink in her honor.

And I also know that Heaven is decked out in Pink today, too. I know it is a beautiful scene right now, and I can only imagine how wonderful a celebration our Lord is having for her.

Happy Birthday my sweet, precious Booboo. Happy Birthday my beautiful daughter. Baba misses you so much and can’t wait to see you again.
