Heartfelt & Genuine Messages of Love From An Animated Series
We learned the magic of love through this TV show

The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper. -W.B. Yeats
My husband popped the popcorn in our cast iron pot of many years, and we got ready to watch our favorite show as a family. Every night at 8 pm, we have gathered to see the magical show: Star Vs. The Forces of Evil. It was our last night, as there were only three short episodes left. The wild ride of emotions from this animated series has entertained us through these dark winter nights.
Star, as we call it, is a show about a princess from another dimension. She comes to Earth to learn lessons before she becomes the queen of her realm. Throughout this show, we see the vulnerabilities of the characters, both the supposed evil monsters, the humans and the creatures from other dimensions. On this 100-day journey of exploring abundance, this show has gifted all of us an overflow of emotions and a wide variety of ways to view life. That is another facet of life, the range of feelings that come up for us every day.
Acceptance
At the very beginning of this show, there is a message of acceptance. Star comes through a portal to Earth and lives as an exchange student from another dimension. There are bumps along her path, but with the help of friends, she develops confidence in herself as she and others accept her for who she is. She eventually forms a circle of friends, and they bond over their differences and unique qualities.
It is a lesson that we learn throughout our lives. All of us are seeking to be accepted. However, if we learn to grow in confidence, we can develop a sense of ourselves. It is a continual journey, learning to love ourselves so that we can feel secure. It is something that I finally learned this year, to accept and love myself exactly as I am; and to not seek approval from others to feel free.
Vulnerability:
In the beginning, there is a group of monsters coming after the princess to take her wand away. Almost everyday Star; and her human friend Marco must fight off the monsters together. However, one day they decide to help one of the monsters and assist him in becoming a kind creature. It takes him a while to learn the lessons, but they all come together in the end. I love this lesson of vulnerability through the lobster-claw monster and the people who were once his enemies learning about life together.
When we learn to be vulnerable and let our emotions out, we can relate better to others. They can see that we are fallible human beings and that we have the same feelings that they do.
Difficult Choices:
There are many points in the show where the characters have to make tough choices. Marco, Star’s best friend, has to decide between staying on Earth or staying on Mewnie with Star. After a while, he chooses to be on Mewnie, but when he comes back to Earth, he has a hard time adjusting. He ends up wearing his knight cape everywhere, and his friends and family tire of him talking about his Mewnie adventures.
There are many times in which we feel the grass is greener in another land, only to find out that it is our state of mind that brings us the most joy. I experienced this myself when I was an exchange student in Mexico. I learned so many profound lessons in that year. When I came back to reengage with my friends in high school during my senior year, it was a rough road. I found myself relating to the other exchange students there more than others. Eventually, I was able to settle down into a rhythm of life, but I would never be the same.
Love:
There are many examples of love in this show. There is romantic love, love of other creatures, love of family, friends, and others. I really enjoyed all of the different forms of love displayed. One of my favorite scenes is when one of the monsters, a giant bullfrog called Buff Frog, receives some tadpoles. He is overjoyed to become a father, and instead of being a tough, terrible monster, he becomes a loving, caring dad. This transformation is one of the many that you will encounter on this show. I thoroughly enjoyed the inclusivity with all different points of view when it comes to love.
We all experience so many facets of love in our lives. There are many ways to look at the heart and how it truly works. It is one of the things I enjoy most in life, finding moments in time that touch my soul. The ultimate love is deep in our spirit; it is the brightest light in the world. From this place, we can share our whole hearts with everyone without fear.
I will not give away too many details; or the ending of the show, but we all enjoyed the finale even more than we thought we would. There were so many powerful life lessons to be learned through the characters. I highly recommend you watch this show and see how it relates to your life and the abundance of emotions in it.
My prayer and my intention for you today is that you learn to love your emotions. They are abundant. Let them flow through you. They guide you to where you need to be.
