Healing Your Dreams

I have been particularly aware of my dreams in the past few months because I have been wanting to heal my dreams, directly, and my subconscious mind, indirectly. This is an activity suggested by the enlightened author Swami Yogananda in a book I’m reading, to clean out the subconscious mind of the day’s events and events, even traumas, from the past.

At first, I was a bit dubious about doing this because of the nature of my dreams. They often contained chaotic activity and a lot of running around trying to prevent problems from happening. Usually with people that I have known from different times in my life. Sometimes the activity had troubling outcomes. And I was happy to awaken from the dream into the “real world”.

At one time, many years ago, I wrote my dreams down and studied them, analyzed them. I once took a Jungian dream workshop in which I learned to consider what the symbolic meaning of the dream imagery was, especially what archetypal meaning might apply.

At Yogananda’s suggestion, though, I decided not to analyze my dream but just “be with” the parts of the dream that I could remember for a moment. And then say to my Higher Consciousness, “I offer this dream up for healing”, pausing, and just waiting for a moment to feel my Higher Consciousness flowing in to meet the moment. Followed by a “thank you”. I would usually fall asleep fairly quickly after that.

This troubling pattern continued night after night as did my healing work. Sometimes several times a night. However, I was determined to trust the process. Recently I experienced a lightening up of my dreams. A kind of neutral feeling about them when I would wake up. Not the sense of chaos from before.

Last night — paydirt. An amazing dream in which I was in a crowd of people in a park. I was laughing and having a wonderful time. Some of the cast members from the TV show Seinfeld were there. It was playtime. Happiness abounded.

I woke up at a point where the joke was about somebody finding their glasses on their head. I reached down and picked up a pair of beautiful glasses from the depression in the grass in front of me. Everyone giggled.

“Wow”, I said to myself and a “thank you” to Spirit.

I think this a good example of wanting to make a change by turning the problem over to Higher Consciousness, Soul. And allowing That to do the work for a positive outcome. A “Best Possible Outcome”, a manifestation process I developed and explain in The Manifestation Book.
