Healing — Mind, Body & Soul
KTHT Weekly Prompts for the Week of Sept 26–Oct 2
I think most of us can agree that when we only heal one aspect of our lives, we never fully recover. We can take medication that heals our bodies and sometimes our minds, but the medicine merely places a band-aid upon those wounds. We can do major healing on our minds through therapy, meditation, mindfulness training, and/or CBT, but if our physical bodies and/or our spirit bodies are still out of sync, are we truly healed? We can even do deep spiritualistic rituals and glean wisdom, but what if our minds are too troubled to reap the benefits? See where I am going with this?
Personally, when I am only focused on one aspect of my wounded being, I tend to overlook the other two. Yet, I realize in order to be completely whole, I need to heal all three — my mind, my body, and my soul. I was reminded of this after reading Carmen Rumbaut’s essay Ten Spiritual Questions I Ask My Pain:
Carmen opened my eyes to something I know I should know, but have often overlooked or just not applied — Asking Spirit about physical issues and truly listening for the answers. I even realized that I could do the same for mental health issues and even spiritual matters. We could all use some clarity, after all, and who better to ask than our Higher Power (or Higher Self) — a place of true, absolute, unconditional Love.
This week, I would love for all of us to explore healing our whole beings. Even if you aren’t religious or spiritual, perhaps asking your Higher Self probing questions can still offer you some clarity. Let’s explore this with some writing prompts!
Prompts For The Week
Personal Essay-based prompts:
- What questions would you ask your Higher Power or Higher Self concerning mind-body-soul ailments? What answers do you expect? How do you think the answers may differ from your expectations? What answers have you received?
- Which aspect(s) of your mind-body-soul alignment is/are out of sync? Why do you think they are in flux?
- What healing methods have you used in the past to realign your mind-body-soul connection? Have you received full healing from these methods? If so, tell us about your experiences. If not, why do you think the method(s) didn’t work?
- If you don’t want to dive into those individual prompts above, tell us about your own personal full mind-body-soul healing journey. Are you still on the path? or Have you strayed from it?
Poetry-based prompts:
- Write a letter poem to one or more aspects of your mind-body-soul connection that is out of sync.
- Write a questioning poem to your Higher Power or Higher Self concerning full-beingness healing.
- Write a poem about your healing journey.
Bonus Prompt:
Write an essay on a healing method that you have read or heard about. Weigh the pros and cons of the healing method using personal anecdotes. Do you think this method would help you? Is it sustainable toward full-beingness healing? Why or why wouldn’t you try it?
Well there ya have it, me lovelies — a full week’s worth of prompts to tempt your muses. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to use these prompts. Feel free to write poetry or a personal essay — on any of the prompts. The intention is merely to look at ourselves and reflect through writing.
There will be more prompts coming soon. Please remember to tag one or all of the editors when you use one of these prompts. We are Diana C., Spyder, jules, or me, Ravyne Hawke.
Stay blessed, my friends.
