Healing is Justice

(a personal reflection of healing)

This morning, a recent friend offered to sit with me in meditation.

And it was powerful and provided me with the deep healing I needed.

I’ll explain.

I am hurting.

And when I talk with my black friends, our collective hurt and pain spills out.

We are mothers, and like our parents, elders and ancestors had dreams of providing a better world for our children.

It is hard to be hopeful, loving and present when in pain and not seen.

And, I am finding the prolific resurgence of interest in black lives and our experience of racism by white people, too much.

We are reliving the traumas of past injustices.

I sense it deep within my bones.

Every video shared showing another example of police brutality on black people, every documentary talking about racism, every historical insight about slavery and the way systemic racism affects our lives today — all too much.

My body registers every tremor, and I needed space to breathe and heal.

As usual, an Earth Angel always appears when needed.

The last few weeks I have been blessed by friends sending love and prayers, doing card readings for me, sharing my work, holding my space, checking in to make sure I am ok, holding co-working sessions so I could show up and lend a hand to the cause.

And today, a friend suggested we sit and meditate together and chant the Kali mantra.

Dipti, lives in London and I’m in Grenada.

No problem.

We set a time and agreed to sit in our respective spaces.

The 30 minutes flew by.

As I sat and meditated, the energy of the mantra flowed through my body.

It transported me through all time, releasing and letting-go of what no longer served me.

And as I came out of meditation, I felt light, healed, renewed.

As if that’s not enough, I picked up my journal and the poem Healing is Justice streamed through.

It was a magical experience.

I dedicate the poem Healing is Justice to all souls fighting for racial and social justice and a way forward.

Healing is Justice

Healing is justice. Healing is peace.

Healing is you and me.

Us.

Together.

Healing is the New Normal.

The next step forward.

The New Beginning.

The letting go of the old to give birth to the new.

Healing is Justice. Healing is peace.

You and me.

Us. Working together to heal our land.

Do you see how huge this is.

Healing is justice.

When we open ourselves up to heal ourselves from the pain and sorrows and shame and sadness of the past, especially intergenerational trauma, we create space for hope, for magic, for beauty and justice to flow, side by side.

And that, my dear friend, is huge.

It’s what we are working towards…

A more harmonious, just world, where everyone feels safe, seen and heard and can rise and flourish to build a kinder world.

Keep going, dear friends, your gifts, presence, and services are all needed to build a kinder, more just and inclusive world.🌏

Now that we realise how important healing is, can I send you something to support your personal journey of peace and calm?
