Have You Kissed An Ass Lately?

No silly, not that kind

Last weekend we took a trip to my stepfather’s family farm. They had over 10 donkeys there. We were in heaven.

This photo is a picture of my son in donkey heaven.

Bonding with animals is one of my favorite activities. It’s a form of meditation. I love to connect with my brothers and sisters.

Don’t forget, we too are animals. We’re human animals.

How did we lose our connection to all animals? We love our dogs, cats, and other creatures considered pets. But what about donkeys, and those that people consider pests or food?

If you’ve ever wanted to connect with other animals, visit a farm sanctuary. It’s like a temple for saved souls. Winged, four-legged, broken, damaged, forgotten souls are taken in. They find their forever home at these sanctuaries and I’m so grateful to those who care for them.

You get to meet them on their terms.

And if you haven’t tried it, kissing a donkey is pretty fabulous.

I wanted to share a post about donkey sanctuaries here from the wonderful writer Mukundarajan V N

Since I became vegan just over ten years ago, my relationship with animals has changed so much and I’m so grateful for this connection. I had to spend a long time seeing sad things, which I don’t do much anymore, but it’s important to learn where our food, clothes, cosmetics, candy, furniture, and other things come from. It’s an inconvenient truth, but it’s an awakening.

Our relationship with animals needs to change.

You can only really understand animals when you get to know them. That’s why we love dogs and cats. People have learned to love them because they spend time with them. We don’t get to spend a lot of time with animals other than the ones we call pets.

Find a farm sanctuary and go take a visit. It’s a beautiful experience. It’s a happy experience!

I love the people that take so much time and energy to care for animals.

All beings deserve a life of love, peace, and connection.
