Have You Heard About the 8 Dimensional Of Health?
Sometimes knowing more can lead to a better look at life and ourselves.
I didn’t understand before how well linked our mental and physical health were together. How if one side is failing, then it can also influence the other to fail as well, yet it does make sense.
Improving your physical health can lead to your mental and mood improvement. Not only that but our spiritual well-being is also linked to our mood and how we take care of our body.
It was during the health classes that I learned about the Eight Dimensions of Wellness. Wellness covers our mental, physical, and spiritual health while also giving more depth to them.
Each of these dimensions is interdependent, yet neglection of just one of them can lead to a decline in one's quality of life and health.
Understanding these dimensions can lead us to a healthy and balanced life as well as improving our well-being.
1. Emotional Wellness
Listening to our feelings is something some of us rarely undertake. As we think it’s a moment of weakness that shows up.
You should listen to how you feel, recognize why you are feeling this way, and see what you can do.
Then you should properly express what your feeling to the people you trust. If you have someone you know you can talk to about anything, then talk to them.
Or someone who will listen to you and can give you good advice, then you should express how your feeling to them.
Intentionally keeping how you feel bottled up won’t do you any good and may sometime steer you to burst later. Doing far more damage than what you would have done if you expressed yourself before.
Doing this can help you maintain a positive outlook in the world. Seeing the world as something more than hardship and stress.
But a world filled with ample opportunities.
2. Environmental Wellness
A positive environment is key to help maintain and sometimes improve your mental and physical health.
Staying comfortably in a pleasant and healthy environment for you can help support our well being, well as recover from dire states.
Find or surround yourself with an environment that is not only safe for you but encourages this two health.
These environments will typically depend on your interest such as the things you like and the people you surround yourself with.
For example, if you like reading a book, then find a place like a library or any quite place will be suitable.
3. Financial Wellness
I didn’t pay attention to my finances as I tend to receive a varying reaction, each time I saw it. But because I didn’t pay attention, I always had this deep sense of worry.
On whether I can buy something, do I have enough money for the bills, etc. This gradually caused me to develop a depressed whenever I thought about my finances.
To avoid this, you need to understand your financial situation and begin making good habits to satisfied it.
Habits such as building and planning for the future to better your finical situations.
Handling your finances wisely, such as making informed decisions, setting realistic goals. As well as doing short and long term goals for your finical state.
As well as making sure to have an emergency and back up plan in case. It’s also important to know and understand that.
Everyone’s financial views, needs, and circumstances are different from yours.
4. Social Wellness
Social Wellness means being able to have people around you that make you feel like you belong.
As well as being able to rely on them during your difficult times and being able to seek advice from them.
Some strategies and habits you can do are as followed.
Maintaining your relationship with them, whether by calling them or texting them once a day. It doesn’t have to be a lengthy conversation but something that shows you aren’t going to ghost them.
Enjoy being with the people you care about while making the effort to develop more friendships and relations. Don’t stick with just a few people, be open to making new friends, and expand your social relations.
Letting others care about you, not thinking that if you show your vulnerable side, that it is an act of weakness.
Having a positive relationship with the people in your life will cause, your mental health to increase. It will also allow you to have an easier time looking at the world in a positive light.
5. Intellectual Wellness
Be curious about the things you know or don’t know while keeping an open mind.
No one knows everything and even those who have a deep knowledge of the things they enjoy.
Find it possible that there are still a lot of things they don’t know about their own passion. With them wanting to learn more and so they don’t settle for what they already knew.
Finding ways to expand your knowledge and skills can help you grow as a person and give you another perspective on life. This means reading books, going to a club of your passion, doing activities with a group, and searching through the internet.
Learn to cherish the things you learn, as well as your ability to continuing learning something new every day.
Be happy that you are a Lifelong Learner!
There is nothing wrong with not knowing a lot, that what makes it so much fun.
6. Spiritual Wellness
You need to stop whatever you are doing and take a step back.
Ask yourself, does the thing I am doing in my life, mean something or am just doing it without a good reason?
If you are, then you need to begin finding meaning in your life or what you are doing.
Take the time to find what is important to you, what beliefs and values represent your true self.
Once you can do this, then start participating in activities that go along with those beliefs.
Do you consider religion important to you? Then start participating in the religious activities that you believe in.
Do you enjoy writing? Then why not join a writing group or club to expand your horizon with other writers.
Gaining a purpose, value, and meaning in life can establish a sense of peace and balance in your life.
7. Psychical Wellness
Understand Physical Activity is one of the most significant and straightforward ways to increase your health.
As it reduces the risk of many illnesses, like cardiovascular disease, some cancers, and can improve your mental health and mood.
This doesn’t mean you should just carry out physical activities that your body can’t handle but activities at your level.
For example, you could decide to jog every day but instead of it being for an hour, you can start small before increasing it. Or doing some exercises at home, as there are many youtube videos that can help you with that.
But Physical Wellness isn’t solely physical activity but also eating and sleeping right.
Meaning getting that minimum of six to eight hours of proper rest at night to fully be ready for the next day. If you are having trouble sleeping, try some exercises or any activities that make you tired.
Eating the needed calories for your body will allow you to stay healthy and in the right weight group.
The MyPlate Plan can help you with the types and amount of food you need for your weight group to stay healthy. Requiring you to only give a few details, to make a plan just for you.
Caring for your body is one the best way to stay healthy for your future.
8. Occupational Wellness
Genuine satisfaction doesn’t just come from the people are nearby but the things you do and are passionate about.
Whether this is through work, school, activities, or volunteering. Don’t look at your responsibilities as chains that bind and suffocate you but challenges and proper recognition for your prowess.
Similar to Spiritual Wellness, these activities should be consistent with your goals and values.
Not only will you be more fulfilled but you won’t be burning out by doing something that goes against your true self. Don’t wait for the activity or work to show up, go seek it, and enthusiastically participate in it.
Voluntarily contribute your skills and talent to the things you find meaningful and fulfilling.
