Have you ever found yourself in a room full of people and felt like you just didn’t measure up? This sensation, where we perceive ourselves as ‘less than’ others, is a deeply human experience threading through the fabric of our lives. It’s a feeling that can emerge in various contexts — at work, in social settings, or even within our own families. Understanding and addressing this feeling is crucial for our emotional well-being and self-growth.
The roots of this sensation often lie in the subtle art of comparison. We look at others — their achievements, their relationships, their apparent confidence — and judge ourselves harshly in contrast. This habit of comparison is like viewing our lives through a distorted lens: we see only the highlights of others’ lives while being acutely aware of our own backstage struggles.
