Have You Been Considering a Move to the Sunshine State?

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of Paradise

People have been flocking to the Sunshine State in the past few years. And as someone who spent a little over a decade there, I can understand why.

The Good

Florida is beautiful. It is warm year-round (and as someone who absolutely hates winter, this is a huge plus in Florida’s corner). And it has amazing benefits (no state income tax is always a big one)!

In a lot of ways, Florida really is paradise.

But you always have to take the bad with the good.

The Bad

Florida is also home to a lot of unsavory creatures, such as alligators, nasty snakes, the dreaded fire ant, and then SNOWBIRDS!

AAAHHH!!!!!

If you don’t know what a snowbird is, think of all the people who have winter homes in Florida. They fly south for the winter (literally).

Which means Florida is PACKED during the winter months. Traffic plain ole sucks during this time of year…especially since the snowbirds usually don’t work…so they aren’t in a hurry to get anywhere!

And The Ugly

My family and I moved to Florida from New Jersey (another one of those “don’t judge me” parts, please) when I was 13.

There was snow on the ground when we left Jersey. It was 70 degrees when we got down to Florida!

Did I mention I hate winter?

You would never think that not having a winter could be a bad thing though…until you meet your first hurricane.

They love the warm waters that Florida’s weather brings…and they can cause a crap ton of damage…as my family and I were lucky enough to experience during Hurricane Frances in 2004.

Didn’t Scare You Off Yet?

In all seriousness, if you are considering a move to Florida, or if you are just interested in Florida life, you really need to get the nitty gritty from here:

The blog goes into the true good, bad, and ugly of the state and just so happens to be written and designed by my truly amazing mother (hey…I had to get my love of writing from someone, right?).

Check it out and make sure you subscribe to her page so you know when she posts something new!

If you do check it out, tell me what you think of it! I’d be happy to pass down any feedback and she would love to hear anything that would make the site better!

And then make sure you subscribe to get an email whenever I post a new article! You don’t want to be the last to know, right?!
