Harry’s Therapeutic Advice for Mature Women Looking for Romance.

You’re welcome.

You did not say in your letter that you had chosen the wrong man but rather that he had disappointed you. It’s not easy for a man or woman to choose the right partner, so we go through these rituals in the same way that birds and monkeys go through them.

Mostly, new connections are fun and harmless, but now and again, it happens, putting all your trust and honesty forward in the belief that you have found the right man to fill a need in your life, which is to love and be loved, only to be let down.

You must think about it mathematically. At the last count, there are four billion men worldwide; three billion are married, fifty million are drunks, five hundred thousand are over seven feet tall, three hundred million are drug addicts, and half a billion are unfaithful and not worth looking at.

Of the remainder, there are ten thousand perfect matches. Sometimes, it’s easy to pick the wrong one, even if it initially seemed perfect! It might take a week to find out that he’s a Manchester United supporter. That’s a problem if you support Liverpool.

Remember, you’ve got ten thousand men to go at. It’s never a tragedy if nine thousand don’t work out; it’s simply an error in your mathematics.

It’s all about mathematics. You didn't notice the decimal dot between doing the additions, subtractions, and algebra. (For my demonstration, the decimal dot is a perfect guy.)

Dont panic. I also counted seventy-seven million women in the US who aren’t good at sums. I hardly think that getting it right the first, second, or third time is necessarily easy. It’s tough, very tough.

You’ve embarked on a friendship, not immediately getting into a tangle that might or might not end up in a romance. You know, or you should, there are a hundred different rituals that help with learning about your new friend, tried and tested patterns, and of these, the most important is having fun.

Fun means all kinds of things, but a significant fun is flirting. Don’t worry, you’ll know when to try it.

The list goes on. But the killer one, the one when you decide to find out if he is the real thing, the decimal dot, is the one a woman keeps secret.

If it works, if he is the decimal dot in all the sums you’ve gone through, your friends will look at you and know you’re happy. You’ll go to bed smiling and hide under the covers because it’s obvious how smug you are about your killer move. Then, in the morning, you leap out of bed and give a little jump of joy to show how involved you are in this new phase of capturing the dot.

Try it, get up and take a little leap of joy before you do anything. Then, head out and have fun.
