Harry Houdini and Kelly are tuxedo cats. Basically white cats wearing tuxedos. Harry has more black on his face. Kelly has more white. They are brothers. They are also feral. Which explains a lot about their typing skills. It’s really challenging to get cats to focus on typing Helen Cassidy Page, when most all of their time is spent outdoors, communing with nature.

They had their first exposure to the world of computers in this article.

As their caretaker/food supplier, I wasn’t sure that actually inviting the cats to share their life experiences would be a good idea, but I was willing to give it a go, having been inspired by so many other Medium bloggers with cat stories to share, like Shelly McIntosh, Michelle Monet and Roz Warren. It seemed to me the cats deserved a seat at the table. Cats have a voice, and want to be heard, as well as seen.

When I surprised them with the special premium food and snacks that came from the $5.62 earned by that first post, they were thrilled. Especially with the catnip.

And so when I proposed that they actually have a weekly post, they were in. There was a bit of fuss over the scheduling, since their days are fully booked with rodent hunting, sunning, napping, running, climbing trees and defending the grounds from possible intruders and infiltrators. I did officially appoint them as Guardians of the Garden when they first arrived here a little over a year ago, rescues from a feral cat colony, and they do take the weight of that responsibility seriously. I am merely their secretary and executive chef.

They asked me to express, as first order of business, a sincere thank you to all those who became overnight fans and followers. They also requested that I begin negotiations with Rosetta Stone or Fluenz or other translation software companies, about building some modules to help readers better understand their language. I agreed, but also requested that they take some additional typing courses. They were amenable.

In their second order of business, they requested I reach out to Shelly McIntosh with a formal invitation to correspond.

Kelly informs that Xander is an amazingly handsome fellow, and would he and Anya be interested in an afternoon of tea and deer mice? The mice are running aplenty this autumn, and would make for a fine day of sport.

Also, Harry would be happy to drop the Houdini formalities, and requests you just call him Harry. He says that Anya is a picture of beauty, and would also welcome an outing.

Both Kelly and Harry have been following your work, and approve of the fine social service you are providing. If there ever would come a day when you would like to collaborate, they indicate their total willingness and eagerness to explore what might be possible.

In the meantime, carry on, keep up the good work.

And here is a personal message.
