Harmony is the reason why Pakistan and India play less cricket

The picture says it all! A Pakistani player tying the shoes of an Indian player during the Asia Cup Match. The match was declared “No Result” because of rain. India managed to score 266 but Pakistan didn’t had the time to chase.

Yes, they are playing against each other. Yes, they are arch-rival teams. However, cricket is just a game and like any other game or sport, it brings people together. It brings players together. Yes, both sides want to win but both sides want to come together, enjoy and celebrate.

Unfortunately, the ruling elites of Pakistan and India do not want harmony to prevail between the two countries. If peace and harmony prevails between Pakistanis and Indians then the hatemongers will be irrelevant. The ruling elite’s goals will be squashed. Even foreign powers do not want Pakistan and India to come together. The Indian Subcontinent was way ahead in terms of culture, tradition, and education than the West, or Europe specifically because the Ottomans were ahead and indigenous tribes in the Americas were also ahead.

Pakistanis and Indians want to move ahead from the wounds of 1947. Yet, there are people who want the fire to keep burning. They want the border between Pakistan and India to exist. They want both countries to keep fighting so they don’t unite and become the most powerful region again. Clearly, there are those who are afraid and there are those who don’t want harmony. There are Pakistanis and Indians who want enmity to exist between the two countries.

India’s Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not want to conduct bilateral series between India and Pakistan despite signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Terrorism is just an excuse to not allow the two countries to play cricket. Hoarding the gentlemen’s game will not bring much benefits. Not only cricket cannot flourish but the BCCI will get the blame for usurping it.

History will not be so unforgiving.
