Hardcover Sales Up By 3000%!
The option to create hardcover books is relatively new, introduced just a couple of years ago. Previously, you could only publish paperback books. Initially, I was sceptical, wondering if people would purchase low-content books in hardcover, especially as they had to be priced quite high, at a minimum of $15 to make a reasonable profit.
Despite my reservations, I decided to experiment and converted some of my paperbacks into hardcovers. Sales were sporadic, and I would sell an odd copy here and there. However, a few months ago, I revisited the idea and upgraded some of my best-selling journals to hardcover. Surprisingly, they began selling quite well!
In December (this month), I sold 33 hardcovers, a significant increase from the three sold in the previous month and only one in the month before that. That said, I don’t believe all books should be converted to hardcover. It seems more suitable for books that people wish to keep for a long time, like journals and certain notebooks, rather than types such as colouring and activity books.

Time it Takes to Create Hardcover Books
The process of converting to hardcover is quick, often taking as little as 30 minutes. However, as mentioned, not all books may benefit from this format. My strategy has been to create hardcovers for top-selling paperbacks, which I plan to continue.
Running Ads
As for advertising, I haven’t run ads for the hardcover books since their paperback counterparts were already organically ranked and selling well. I believe running ads might have been unnecessary, as customers looking at my paperbacks were already presented with the hardcover option on the product pages.
To conclude,
In conclusion, there is indeed a market for hardcover versions of low-content books, contrary to my initial thoughts. However, it’s wise to be selective, converting only those books that are suitable and already successful in paperback form.
