Happy World Poetry Day! — Let’s Support Each Other!
Poets I read and appreciate. With thankfulness I gladly share their names on this special date. Let’s make poetry a warm homeland!
Today is World Poetry Day — what a most delightful day! I thought I’d share some of my own poems that I’ve been posting around here. But I’m more eager to name you because I find that support is essential in order to trust and not leave words behind.
Thus I choose to embrace, relish and raise awareness of poetry!
“Go into yourself. Find out the reason that commands you to write; see whether it has spread its roots into the very depths of your heart; confess to yourself whether you would have to die if you were forbidden to write.” — Rainer Maria Rilke
Amanda Weir-Gertzog is one of the first writers I started following here. Her poetry awakens the sleepiest heart — this fact can be very true for new writers like me.
I also love to read poets who share other poets. For instance, Daniela Dragas unveils wonderful pieces of verse for me, in addition to her own, of course. I still have many names coming to me. What a joy! I admit that I’m very fond of Eden Frost — I appreciate the familiarity of her creations.
As well as loving poetry, it’s also great that authors of the poems you enjoy take a moment to read you, isn’t it? A.M. Goode and Praise Frank are used to being present in my writings and this idea is precious to me!
What can be said, my soul is a well from which I drink poetry! Viraji Ogodapola gives me a lot of inspiration; I feel a sense of beauty in each of her lines. “But words are just another form that my feelings take — one of the many. So I am here to find them.” — how can we not fully concur with what Sára Tóth expresses? Sára has a graceful gift! I can feel it!
Oh, I would also state that I am grateful to Janaka Stagnaro. I first began to admire his art and read his poetry with great affection, but then I also became involved in a beautiful community thanks to the collaborative poems. I am filled with spirit!
Wolf Eberhardt is also a poet I hold in such high esteem! I absolutely delight in reading his poems, but I also get a kick out of when he reads to me and shares his impressions. I draw a lot from his vision.
“Because deep down, only you truly understand the bond you share. This pen. Your cherished companion.” — Vinitha Dileep says in one of her writings. So true, right? Her lines make me admit all emotion and I dig it.
Can I go on naming? I still hold a lot of tenderness. Do you know what I especially dearly love? Poetry in many different languages! Priyanka Srivastava shares poems in both English and Hindi! How remarkable!
I guess most of us know Sam Aureli — how could we not when his poetry lifts us up to heaven. Sam is a poet who undoubtedly penned his pen to its fullest perfection. He embellishes it with his soul.
It goes without saying that I follow here other poets I greatly admire. For instance, Audrey Howitt, zaria rashay, Masha Zubareva, Chrysa stergiou, Natalie Wilkinson… Oh, I could write many lovely thoughts about their creations, but I’m afraid this text is asking me to finish; I mean, to put a full stop to it.
“This most of all: ask yourself in the most silent hour of your night: must I write? Dig into yourself for a deep answer. And if this answer rings out in assent, if you meet this solemn question with a strong, simple “I must,” then build your life in accordance with this necessity; your whole life, even into its humblest and most indifferent hour, must become a sign and witness to this impulse. Then come close to Nature. Then, as if no one had ever tried before, try to say what you see and feel and love and lose…” — Rainer Maria Rilke
No doubt I am leaving out some names. In any case, here I am, to recollect and re-read your poetry. If you do not find yourself between my lines, let me know… I would love to recover your voice in my mind.
I hope you can celebrate today by reading, writing, or simply seeing the light of life. May poetry always be your mainstay!
“It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.” — Rainer Maria Rilke
