Happy Medium-versary to ME!

Feb 16, 2021-Feb 16th 2022 a digital gratitude note

I just had my one year anniversary with Medium.com. The traditional first anniversary gift is paper. Well, I guess Medium gifted me with digital paper money-though I earned it, so? I am, in return, gifting a digital gratitude note!

Perspective is everything, is it not? A year ago today I had 3 views, then 0, then 1 (Thanks Kris Downey). I made all of 37 cents in February last year and I was excited about it. I’ve made 5.5 times that this month, and I’m still excited. My $50 dollar investment in my writing is still yielding much higher dividends than my savings account.

I didn’t have to worry about getting 100 followers to join the partner program-that wasn’t a thing yet. Today I have 786 followers. Of those 786, about 23 are regulars. Special shout out to Thief, Marcus aka Gregory Maidman, d1sconnect ktht, Spyder they encouraged me to keep on writing from they every beginning.

Over the year I learned to kick (those kickers are so tricky at first), tag, imbed, pixabay/prexel, and type faster. I’ve read a minimum of three articles a day, do the math!! Okay I’ll do it for you, that is at least 1095 articles.

I took a 30 day poetry writing challenge and was successful. Sahil Patel

Still working on a 50 day reflection challenge — I adapted it to 50 essays as many of the prompts deserved more than surface level pondering.

I’ve especially fallen in love with writing 75 word novels! This was a challenge posted in The Open Kimono.

Over the year I’ve learned

  1. Writing everyday is the key to success
  2. You have to redefine success, often!
  3. Reading and responding is as important as writing
  4. Enjoy the ride, highs and lows
  5. Take the challenge!

Thank you to all who follow, read and respond. A special vote of gratitude to all the editors of publications! My go to pubs seem to be: The Lark, Illumination, CoffeeTimes, The Open Kimono, Know Thyself Heal Thyself, and Color and Shades.

I’m looking forward to next year’s annual report. My goals for this next year of writing are

  1. Join the 1k followers club
  2. Triple my steady reader numbers
  3. Master the art of SEOs.
  4. Enjoy the ride, highs and lows.

I sincerely thank you followers, readers, authors and editors for a lovely year of reading and writing!
