TRAIN JOURNEYS
Hamburg to Amsterdam
The fourth leg.
Why Hamburg? Miniatur Wunderland, that’s why.
Why Hamburg? Miniatur Wunderland, that’s why.
It didn’t disappoint, but Hamburg had so much more to offer — paddle-boating on the lake with a storm brewing, a harbour cruise, (the second biggest container port in Europe), the Rathaus (City Hall), and dinner at the Gröninger Brauhaus, a small brewery/restaurant in a stone cellar recommended by Stacey’s friends, Missy and Martin.
Missy ordered a platter the length of the table filled with sliced roast pork, sausages, whole pork roasts with crackling, mashed potatoes and cabbage soaked in something delicious. Martin ordered a keg of beer!
How we caught the 9.46 am train to Amsterdam the next morning, I don’t know. First the ICE ( Inter City Express) to Osnabrück where we changed to the slower train to Amsterdam, city of canals and bicycles.
