Halloween Has Come And Gone For Another Year

The Trick or Treaters were few and far between for us

The candy treats were ready and waiting for the children.

Since we live in an area where there are not a lot of children, the trick or treaters we have are relatively few. There were more last year. This year we had less than ten groups of two to four children each. Most were young teenagers. Sometimes parents will bring children in their cars to go up and down the street in our neighborhood. That did not happen a lot this year.

Although children still enjoy dressing up in costumes and going door to door to seek treats, it is not as common now as it once was. Some bad things happened to discourage parents from sending their children out. Parents usually accompany young children if they do go trick or treating. Then the parents inspect the candy before any of it is eaten.

That is wise to be careful about the practice and the treats received.

Halloween treats of several varieties were brought to us. A pumpkin decoration with cookies on a Halloween plate and books of free Frosty ice cream from Wendy’s. A friend likes to buy coupons from Wendy’s each Halloween to support adoption with the fast food restaurant.

Food companies such as Dirty Dough Cookies had special cookies made for Halloween. They gave out some free cookies to children who came to their store in costume on Halloween.

Halloween decorations were everywhere including inside a hospital where they used the medical theme.

It was a back to more-normal year for trick or treating with candy being given out without a net like it was during the bad days of the COVID pandemic when people did not want to get close to each other. A net was used to hand the candy to the children at that time.

Halloween is a fun time for children and adults.

Christmas decorations and items for sale have been out for weeks in stores, but now everyone can concentrate on getting ready for the Christmas holiday season.

Halloween signals that Winter is coming, and the year will soon be over. It will be time for a New Year before we know it. How time flies!
