Halloween Garland
Fun and easy!

Happy Almost Halloween! Today, I’ll be sharing a fun, inexpensive, and easy Halloween craft to dress up your cabinets or bookshelf: A Halloween Garland!
Here’s what you need:
Fun Halloween fabric (preferably cotton) in different patterns.
Pinking shears: this is really important!
A strand of lights in orange or purple.
TIME! With the cutting and tying, it will take a couple of hours.
Let’s get started!
First, get all your fabric together and use your pinking shears to cut strips of 1 inch by about 7 inches. Do not use regular scissors! Pinking shears help prevent fraying, so you’re going to want to get a pair if you don’t own any.
I purchased mine on Amazon for just under $10. I used the Mr. Pen pinking shears in the zig-zag pattern.
It doesn’t have to be perfect but get the strips as close to the same size as possible.

Once your strips of fabric are all lined up, it’s time to pull out the strand of lights you’re going to use. Now, you can use a simple strand of orange or purple. However, if you really want to go all out, I suggest going to Walmart and purchasing the Jack O Lantern string of lights they’re selling for only $10!

I couldn’t resist and I have no regrets! Once you have the lights spread out, just start simply tying the strips onto the lights, like this:

Since I had an entire yard of the black cat/neon green fabric, I used that print as filler between the other prints. I’m beyond thrilled with how it came out.

I still have to purchase an extension cord to plug it in, but I’m still so happy with how it came out!
Some things to remember:
This will take you 2 to 3 hours, depending on how fast you can cut and tie. I started this in the late afternoon, only to have to stop to make dinner and then continue it the next morning.
The prints I had were all about 1/4 yard, aside from the black cat/neon green, which I had a whole yard. Depending on the length of your lights, be prepared to use at least 2 entire yards of fabric.
Here’s a small close-up:

I hope you try this out! If you do, please let me know!
Happy Almost Halloween! We’re so close!
