Haiku — 0030: Threshold.
The cusp of the rest.
Today marks the 30th day since I started the daily goal of writing one Haiku. This is a month (almost), and I couldn’t think of a more apt title.
Before going further, I thank the readers who reacted to my Haiku and anecdotes. It means a lot to me, and I hope to see you more!
The summer bird flies,
A last look at its first nest,
A world to take on.
Looking back at the beginning of it, I had a rather spontaneous decision to start writing Haiku, one per day. I even gave my titles 4-digit space, despite not quite being sure if I could live up to my expectations.
And it hasn’t been easy, naturally. But it has been rewarding.
I will write a whole separate post about my experiences this month creating Haiku, so please do look out for that!
But, coming back to the threshold. ‘Consistency’ has been one of my issues regarding writing, and haunts me to this date. So, after sticking to something for a whole month, I am more surprised than I am proud. Was it the influence of my martial arts training, or just me rediscovering my stubbornness, I couldn’t tell. But whatever it is, I am not letting this discipline go.
Then, there’s also my writing itself — I had to contend with a few words to convey a world of emotions, and that has had some effect on me as an individual. I even use smaller paragraphs these days!
The budding (Haiku) writer in me has taken his time in the comfort zone of the nest, growing, feeding, and learning to flap his wings.
Now is the time to fly!
