Haiku — 0023: Aftermath

After the storm…

Image generated with DALL-E

Shattered world survives,

Weathering apocalypse,

Broken, yet breathing.

For some, the wall came down crashing yesterday.

Today is about the aftermath of it all — A second realization, the colder one, about what they had to go through a day before. The dull reliving of their emotional throes, for some despondency, for some bitterness, and some other, outrage.

For some, defiant optimism becomes their way of approaching the problem. For some others, hollowness and cynicism are their succor. Of those who survived, some are indifferent, some sympathetic, and some equally dejected.

The microcosm today was one unrecognizable from the day before — The one that had a massive meteor dropped on it, leveling down many a giant, shaking the terrain, dust in the air, some ducking for cover, some choking, some flying above, aloof to the misery below. Yet, they survive, every species in this microcosm.

Bent, broken, battered, but breathing.

Perhaps our tomorrow will judge us for our today.
