Haiku — 0011: Curiosity

“What is…”

A treasure hunt,

The gleaming magpie collects,

Spring forest’s jewels.

Imagine you are a magpie, going around, collecting all things shiny. You are always ready to explore, seek out, curious. I won’t claim to be the most curiosity-driven child, but, growing up has helped me reconnect to that side of me. And, it has also allowed me the wisdom that being curious takes a certain level of responsibility, and adventurism — Quite a tightrope every once in a while.

For example, I “disappeared” during a mountain pilgrimage to head into the nearby village and experience local life. I know, not my proudest moment as a group-adhering devotee, but it taught me all of these aspects of being curious that I just mentioned above. The TLDR version has me having visited the village, talked to a few people there about their lives, visited a few caves, and a waterfall, and returning just in time to get caught by someone senior and get an earful.

More importantly, it also made me think about how to not be reckless just in pursuit of “new experiences” — Just like a magpie, or any other animal in general, would not trade away its sense of caution just for the proverbial bling.

So, did this get you curious? Hit that like and share your thoughts!
