A Light In The Dark — A Poem
The unforgiving sea is crushing down your boat And dark, unsettling waves are swallowing you whole But even there, in the cold of despair I shine my light on you, lighten the burden you bear And when all else seems lost, I hold on to you As you hold on to me, for we’ll both see this through I am at your side, I always have been This bright shining light, breaking the dark from within You’ve shed tears, you’ve shed blood, you have suffered so much But through torture and pain, you have not given up I am here, can you hear me? Can you see me smile? Just a little bit more, push on, there’s the end of your trial I know your problem, but you don’t know who I am Though I’ve always been with you, you don’t yet understand I’m your strength, when your muscles give in to the task I’m your faith, when desperation keeps you in its grasp I’m your courage, when fear tries to swallow your heart I’m your composure, when doubts try to pull you apart I’m your friend, I’m your guardian, I’m your ladder and rope Who I am? You still ask? I am hope
