Growing Season

Weekend Prompt for Color Green

Gnarled vines of last year’s clematis looked like dead twigs I forgot to prune: but they were merely waiting for springtime warmth to touch the dormant sap within and unfold brilliant green to celebrate new growth.

They heard the whisper of nature. “It’s time to blossom again”, to offer fresh beauty for the season, to offer shade for the flowers and protection for the sparrow building his nest.

All of nature responds to the call, “it’s time!” It’s time to unleash dormant gifts within, to be the vehicle of beauty you are meant to be, as surely as clematis hugs the fence and climbs upward to blue sky; as effortlessly as tender needles of the strong, stable evergreen shoot out new growth to lengthen its branches.

It’s time to shake away the hibernation of last season, to prune the latent creativity coursing within, to heed the call to offer something unique to the world, to flourish as new gifts reveal themselves and to marvel at their beauty.

It’s time to join the celebration.
