At the bottom of the Space Needle, there is a Pizza place that is to die for. Then there is an Arcadia for kids and adults alike. Competition is on with fun and games for all.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is a great place to see the colors of Fall. It is a mountain town in Eastern Tennessee and the gateway into the Smokey Mountains. There is much to do there now, but let me tell you about its history.

History

According to Wikipedia — before incorporation, the town was known as “White Oak Flats.” It is in Sevier County, settled in 1806 and incorporated in 1945.

For centuries, the Cherokee Indian hunters and other Native Americans hunted the land.

There were Europeans who came along but never settled in the area. It was William Ogle of Edgefield, South Carolina, who was a native there (1751–1803), who decided to settle in Gatlinburg.

The Cherokee Indians taught him to notch the flats and erect them in a cabin.

Malaria swept through and took Ogle. His widow moved to Virginia, returned to Gatlinburg with her family, and settled after a decade.

Following the Ogles back were the McCarters and Huskys. More observed who were veterans of the American Revolutionary War of 1812. They converted their payment of 50-acre land tracts into deeds.

In 1856, the Post Office was established, and the General Store was owned by Radford Gatlin (1798–1880). This was where the giving the town a name came from.

Radford Gatlin did not arrive in town until 1884. There were feuds between him and the neighbors. They assume it was about him wanting to divert the main road. Many towns go out of business when you do this. History has taught us this.

Gatlin was a Confederate sympathizer during the Civil War. He tried to be neutral during this time. It did not go so well with his neighbors. He ended up leaving.

The logging companies came in around the 1900s. Residents started making money putting up lodgers. Then tourists started trickling in from reading about the Smokie Mountains. So, this is where tourism began, and it grew and grew.

Boobash at Gatlinburg has several structures to visit to see the Fall Foliage. At Sky Park, there is the Skylift, where you ride in the air across the mountain. The Sky Deck, where you look off the deck out toward the mountains, The Sky Bridge, and the Sky Trail, where you are walking through the beautiful foliage.

So, I hope you will visit one day. It doesn’t matter which season because Gatlinburg is happening all year round.

Now, we are coming up in the cold season. Here are some natural remedies to keep around:

  • One tablespoon of black pepper.
  • One tablespoon of honey.
  • Two tablespoons of grated ginger.
  • 3 cups of water.

Preparation and Usage:

  1. Begin by pouring the water into a small pot and placing it on medium heat. Once it reaches a boil, add the ginger and black pepper.
  2. Boil this mixture for 3 minutes, then let it cool until it reaches a comfortable temperature.
  3. Add honey to taste to sweeten the mixture.
  4. Consume this drink as needed.

Recommended Usage:

Drink 3 to 4 cups of this solution daily to help relieve congestion and cough. However, for milder symptoms, one cup on an empty stomach may suffice to alleviate mucus-related issues.

Additionally, for addressing colds and flu, we have a potent natural remedy:

Fire Cider

  1. 2 Freshly chopped or crushed garlic.

2. 1 Freshly chopped onion

3. I grated fresh ginger root.

4. I grated fresh horseradish.

5. Fresh cayenne pepper (seeded), thinly sliced or chopped

6. 2 Orange

7. 2 Lemon

8. Cover with Apple Cider Vinegar

Preparation and Usage:

  1. Chop all ingredients.
  2. Please put it in a jar.
  3. Cover with Apple Cider Vinegar.

Transfer this blend into an airtight glass jar and store it for four weeks. During this period, gently shake the jar once daily (1 jar per day).

After four weeks, strain the mixture with cheesecloth, retaining only the liquid. Please put it in a clean jar.

These recipes work. I use the fire cider regularly. I had Covid and used it every 4 hours.

It also works for weight loss, indigestion, and intestinal problems.
