I Am Thankful For My French Press
How the little things can make you the happiest
There are times I take great joy in the mundane. I am grateful for the peaceful mornings my husband and I prep for each other at the start of our days. The little things that make our household run smoothly like the well-oiled, nurtured machine it is.
I put my kettle on the stove to heat my water, pull the container off the shelf that holds the grounds that will eventually turn into liquid happiness, and prep our mugs.
I have a mug collection that he only further enables, much to my joy. I chose my favorite black “Witches Brew” mug from the cabinet this morning and pulled my oat milk cinnamon creamer from the refrigerator, making my coffee taste like toasty Christmas.
I then pour the now boiling water into my trusted French press, and the warm, roasted aroma of coffee permeates the kitchen.
As I use my handheld frother to give us that perfect fluffy foam, I smile to myself. I am grateful I get to enjoy such simple pleasures, like prepping my and my partner's mornings before we engulf ourselves in our work and responsibilities.
We make it our mission to enjoy the first few sips together for a few moments. Sighing with contentment, sharing a tender moment, then off we go, ready to take on the new day's challenges.
A warm drink on a frigid morning feels like a hug in a mug. It is just what you need to motivate and comfort you simultaneously. It can give you the highest of caffeinated buzzes and the deepest of thoughts.
It’s like a familiar friend who greets me while pushing me to tame my wild bedhead and wash the previous evening's sleepiness off my face.

My French Press has seen a lot of joy in my kitchen as I make the perfect cup of coffee with a hefty serving of love mixed in. Each mug is a work of art, painted to your preference until you reach perfection.
As I sit at my desk, take a deep breath, and mentally prepare for the day ahead, I aim to make coffee itself nervous with my ambition. I have a few moments to myself with my cup, to be in this moment before I throw the mask on I need for the day ahead, already prepping my French Press for a second cup.
Thank you, French Press, for the small, mundane, joyous moments in between the chaos.
