SOUL MAGAZINE | 30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE

Grateful for the little moments

this week in gratitude

Once again, I found myself unwell during the Thanksgiving festivities, and another long weekend slipped away as we remained stuck at home.

It all began with a sore throat that eventually developed into a low-grade fever and fatigue at the start of last week. Both my younger one and I were at the mercy of the sore throat, although he didn’t experience a fever, which was a relief. Miraculously, my elder one managed to escape the bug.

I couldn’t get any writing done last week as a result. Nevertheless, I am grateful that despite the tiredness, I am now feeling much better, and my sore throat is nearly gone. Currently, my husband is grappling with the symptoms.

Even though we couldn’t go on a trip as planned earlier during the Thanksgiving holidays, I am thankful for the opportunity to rest and recuperate. We did manage to venture out a bit — a long drive at night and some shopping during the day when fatigue wasn’t overwhelming. It was nice to spend time outdoors as a family.

Here’s what I’m thankful for:

  • Feeling better now
  • Getting to sleep in during the holidays
  • Warm tea and coffee keeping me company as the cold weather slowly envelops us
  • Playing badminton with the kids over the last two days
  • New sprouts in my garden
  • Enjoying a game of sequence, a card game, with the family
  • Being able to focus on what truly matters

My gratitude list consistently comprises the little things. I often find that these small moments bring me more happiness and peace than the bigger ones. Perhaps, it’s these seemingly insignificant aspects that contribute to the richness of my life.

Well, I cherish my seemingly ordinary and mundane life. 😊

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
