Grammatical Whale
Swimming in the sea of punctuation, this enormous whale is waiting to gulp me down. Save me, please!
I wonder how I’m writing There’s fear in my words And nothing to relate to except punctuation So who can I call upon?
I sit wondering on the chair There has to be someone Who do I email?
The words are out and flowing But all I really want to know Who will show me the way? As I want someone to review what I say
Well, I can see the reason, I’m getting on your nerves When someone drops a pen and in its ink, I submerge
I’m swimming in a circle of grammatical errors, I feel I’m going to drown There has to be my inner fool To come play my part
Save me from the grammatical whale Is there someone who has the power to guide? Coz all I really want to know
Is there someone who can be my grammar guard, Or who will show me the way? I want someone to show me the way I want someone day after day
I ponder am I asking for too much? I feel so sheepish I can’t believe all this is happening to me
I read all that you’re writing And then I read what I wrote And then I want to take a look again at what you wrote I just want to ask you then
Won’t you show me the way Please won’t you show me the way I want you to pull me out of the sea
The sea of punctuation where I’m drowning I want you to teach me to swim each day To save me from being gulped by the grammar whale So tell me please, won’t you show me the way?
I love to write and I believe I can do so, but I falter and fall weak when it comes to punctuation. This morning post discussing the same with dear Selma, I penned this down giving the punctuation my best shot, naturally without any grammar check remembering my school Wrenn & Martin days. Thus this poem is inspired by Selma and the song which I was listening to also – “Show Me The Way” by Peter Frampton and I’d like to thank them and my friends here at Medium and ILLUMINATION for showing me the way.
