Gracie, the Continuing Forever Puppy
Chapter 4-Dame Gracie, the Greek

Gracie is still an Irish Terrier Terror-a handful, brilliant, gorgeous, and downright annoying. We are still breathlessly awaiting her exit from youth and adolescence to adulthood. Gracie is still a bother, but we are learning how to cope with her quasi Middle School antics. Regardless, she still socializes well with dogs and people plus she is a wonderful traveler.

The manure eating problem still exists. Now, Gracie thinks of it as a hot hors d’oeuvres, a yummy and hot morsel of crud. She is on a diet of kibble, a small amount of wet dog food, but her hopes of yummy deuce is constantly there. Chapter 3-Gracie, the Forever Puppy had over 30,000,000 views and counting. It is still available on “Petness”. I thank them for her popularity. Maybe her empty popcorn bag from Costco will improve Costco’s sales of Gluten-Free popcorn (see below). She is probably potty trained except for the missed wafting hot fecal appetizer. She enjoys toilet paper but has been unsuccessful thus far at her attempts to decorate the house.

Gracie excelled in Puppy 3 training as she is smarter than most dogs and people. Therefore, she has received all the needed academics. We are next training her to be a PTSD dog for me. We are also looking into agility classes. Gracie jumps at four feet high, but, there is a downside to her brilliance. She cannot chew cardboard, towel, and toilet paper rolls, or cardboard boxes from Costco because this activity makes her act territorial. Gracie is adept at Kong balls, pulling out the tray to her kennel, communicating in every way possible in order to get anything and everything she wants including temper tantrums over Kong balls and lick mats. She reminds me of when I was a little girl. I gave up on temper tantrums when I finally saw a purpose in re-cleaning my room after the cyclone came through. Gracie is spending more time outside of the kennel, running around the house as well as the deck, tummy rubbing time, doing Irish jigs, fighting for shoes, socks, hikes, walks, eating, licking, and husbandry chores to name a few.

Her favorite television channel is Lifetime. She knows who the villain is and ponders on his demise. She still has one choice rather than many but gets rewarded for the correct decisions which are numerous. She “sits” and “downs” easily especially as it keeps her from barking or getting loose. As for the feculence issue, it is still her desire to have the menu include a canape of fresh puppy leavin’s as an appetizer. Ooh. How yummy. She now licks it to make sure that the consistency is correct and of course hot. We catch most of it, but she always hopes for that unaccounted tasty morsel. In all of this, we are grateful for her fun spirit. She is adorable and brilliant, but too smart for her own good.
