Got My Friends Of Medium Tote Bag!
Even When Everything Was Against it…
Am I in a good mood today? Yes, I am! For three main reasons:
- It’s Friday! (this could be enough reason, but I have two more).
- This week I received the payment for the January earning program!
- Today I received my Friend of Medium Tote Bag!
I got the Friends of Medium membership at the end of December 2023, so I didn't think I was one of the first 500 members who acquired it and therefore, I thought I had lost my opportunity to get my FOM Tote Bag.
However, I was greatly surprised to see that on January 24th I received an email notifying me that for being one of the first Friends of Medium I had obtained a Tote Bag created by the design team of Medium!
At first, I didn't believe it, however, the email had instructions to place the order, so I thought -"ok, I lose nothing by trying"- although for a moment I thought it wouldn't work since I'm in Mexico and the shipping maybe wouldn't be so cheap for Medium, I honestly didn't think they would send Tote Bags outside the United States.
So there I was, following the instructions in the email and filling out the forms, by January 31st I received a confirmation email from Medium indicating that my order had been sent, I was so happy!
— “Wow! Were they really going to send me a Tote Bag straight home?” —
I know! For some of you, a Tote Bag may not mean much, but for me it does, I am a lover of Tote Bags and I have several designs from different companies, concerts, and places that I visit. So let me be happy with my tote bag, ok?! Haha!
The product had been shipped by UPS, and I thought it would take a couple of weeks or more to arrive, so I didn’t get obsessed with tracking it daily either but UPS is quite good at notifying the progress of your shipments by email. I had received an email a few days ago stating that the package would be delivered by February 8th, so yesterday, Thursday, February 8, I was excited and waiting for it, but to my surprise, the package had been held at customs, so I received a notification indicating that the shipment would be rescheduled. I felt a little sad but I wasn’t surprised either, the customs in Mexico are super slow at releasing shipments that come from abroad, in my experience when I have ordered products from Temu or Shein, they travel half the world in a day and then they are held at customs for 15 more days, we have the slowest and most inefficient system that exists! (how do customs work in your countries? Do you receive your products quickly?).
But today I was surprised again!
I was at home, working in my garden when I received a call from the UPS delivery man, he told me that he was at the main entrance door of my building, but the surveillance people did not allow him to pass to my apartment, WAIT… WHAT?!… WHY?! ... it seemed that the universe was against me receiving my Tote Bag!
I asked the delivery man if he was still in this area, and he said no, but that he wanted to notify me of the reason why he didn’t deliver the shipment. I asked him to tell me where I could reach him, so that we could meet for the delivery, but he refused, however, I still think he liked me because he kindly said:
— “It’s okay young lady, don’t worry, I can go back to your apartment to deliver your package, just please talk to the surveillance staff so that they allow the access.” —
And so I did! I talked to them, (I admit that I almost yelled at them haha!) and I asked them that please let the UPS delivery man come in since I was waiting for an important package.
Well, 20 minutes passed when UPS arrived, a man of approximately 60 years old, uniformed and very kind greeted me and Baloo (my husky) and told me that he didn’t want my package to be lost nor returned, that’s why he decided to come back. He took out the package and when he tried to scan it to mark it as delivered… guess what? The system didn’t allow him to do it!
Apparently, he had previously marked the package as “not delivered” and it had automatically been rescheduled for collection elsewhere, I swear I thought:
-“Ok, what else? What else is going to happen so that I don’t receive my Tote Bag?” —
The delivery man smiled and told me that he would try to fix it, he took his cell phone and dialed the UPS office and explained the situation to them, they transferred him to another person who helped him by making the adjustments in the system so that the package could be delivered.
Finally, I signed as received, and he gave it to me! Baloo and I went inside excited to open it (not sure if Baloo was excited, but I was!), and there it was! MY TOTE BAG! I must say that I loved it! the tote bag is much bigger than what I had thought, and actually, I think it is the largest I have, it has a great quality and a beautiful design.
Thank you Medium for making me happy this week! Although everything conspired against me receiving my Tote Bag, it was accomplished!
